I'm getting into pedal building, would you recommend this kit to get started?

@Gregchilcott: It's not the most difficult nor the easiest one to build (especially considering the toggle wiring). But I wouldn't let it discourage you if you are set on it. I normally recommend something like the SBB from GGG as a first build to get familiar with basic techniques, etc. Some kit providers will claim "all of them are easy and anyone can do it" but it's really not the case for some. There is skill in soldering, routing wires, etc. But these skills can be acquired.

what does the three-way switch do? i know it changes the sound but what is it actually doing when it's in the different positions?

@dom4guitar It's switching between diode clipping options such as symmetrical vs. asymmetrical to provide different types of distortion.

@fenderocks FYI: If you purchase the mod option, you'll have all the parts for any mod listed on the GGG site so you really don't have to make the decision before you buy.

@fenderocks The Keeley mod alone will provide a better bass response and more distortion. The beauty about this kit, is the ability to do many mods and/or combine certain features of other mods to create something unique. Some things, however, don't work too well together (i.e. the AMZ Fat Mod along with the Expensive Boutique). Though I personally haven't combined them yet, I think the Keeley mod should work well with the aspects of the Boutique mod such as the three clipping options.
