Democrats are responsible for Financial Crisis. Barack Obama will be a continuation of Bill Clintons polices. Bill Clinton & his affordable housing program drove this country to a financial crisis. In 1994 Clinton directed HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros to come up with a plan. Its clear now that the erosion of lending standards pushed prices up by increasing demand, and later led to waves of defaults (foreclosures) by people who never should have bought a home in the first place.

President Barack Hussein Obama. How do you like the sound of that? I can't wait until all the haters have to just deal with it. The same people that would never vote for a black "muslim" candidate are the same ones that think that it's unpatriotic to not support the president. This will rock them to their core and I just can't wait.
When will people learn that McCain is just another 4 years of Bush? It is so obvious that these men are at the end of puppet strings that are worked by big corporations. This is why people are in a " Triangle of Poverty" when it comes to the consumer. We have to decide between the price of food, medicine, and gas. So I agree that the it's not just a problem with oil. It's a problem with McCain and corporation. His job would be serving all people, which he can't do.
Obama was in Youngstown, OH today railing about how McCain supported Cheney's 2005 energy bill along with George Bush. He loves to drop names! It contained huge rebates for oil companies.
Looking at the voting record, Obama voted FOR the legislation.
McCain voted AGAINST the legislation, citing that the tax rebates for the oil companies were too large.
Don't you know that many of the videos on youtube are FICTION (that means made-up). Did you see the one about Obama's love child, or the one showing him cussing out the hecklers in the crowd? Did you also know that you start each sentence with a capital letter, all names are capitalized, and all sentences end in punctuation? What are they teaching in public school, not grammar heh? McCain 2008 (Note the proper spelling)
This ad is not dishonest. The Quote, "Oil Executives and Employees" donate that money. That is the samantics. It is the oil companies paying off McCain; furthermore, don't forget that McCains campaign manager has been on of the biggest lobbyist on Capital Hill, which further proves who butters his bread.
THIS IS A LIE. McCain DOES NOT SUPPORT a taxbreak targeted to oil companies, he supports a reduction in all corporate taxes.. we have the highest in the western world. The purpose being to keep jobs
THIS IS A LIE.. OIL companies CANNOT legally donate to political campaigns
THIS IS A LIE. McCain got 1.3 million not 2 million from people who work in the oil industry not from oil companies
Well, obviously he's got you brainwashed! Ask ANY economist about Obama's tax and spend plans for our economy. You won't find one legitimate supporter. Barack Obama is like Paris and Britney. Pretty on the outside, hollow on the inside. America saw this clearly on his European tour. Why is he tanking in the polls? McCain's ad is the painful truth--Obama's ad is nasty lie.
You capitalize the first letter of each sentence. It's a demonstrated fact that when a liberal cannot win on the issues, they resort to name calling and lies. McCain wants to keep the "Bush" tax cuts on the lower and middle class ALIVE. They are due to expire in 2010. Obama wants them to go away, because they don't have his name on them. You, my dear, are clueless. Get an education on the facts, and tell your liberal politicians in congress to get back to work and produce an energy bill!
This person gives liberals a bad name. Actually, it is usually the conservatives who resort to things such as name calling and lies, but also things worse such as mailing anthrax to liberal celebrities, or shooting people in a Unitarian church. Obama want the Bush tax cuts to go away because they give a larger tax cut to he rich. What Obama wants to do is make a new bill that will help working class families by giving them low taxes, and rebates by taxing the windfall profits of oil companies.
OK, pick out a couple of nuts out there who are mentally disturbed, and use THEM to give creedence to your argument??? After reading all your posts on this site, I have a couple of nuts to throw at you: Barack Hussein Obama, and YOURSELF. You seriously need to get a life. P.S. Obama wants a new tax plan, because it will have HIS holy name on it--THE ONE---the oaf!
And you're not the same way? You are acting like the person you made fun of. You call names and don't make any actual arguement at all. Nice job pointing out Barack Obama's middle name. Just because his name is different from the white men who have been our presidents, doesn't mean he is any less qualified. YOU are acting like an ignorant white supremacist.
Hussein is his middle name. Did I strike a nerve? Is this another Dem hide the ball trick to portray this guy something he isn't?He believes in a socialist America, he ditches visiting wounded troops, he doesn't place his hand on his heart during the National Anthem, he took the American flag off his airplane, etc.. Please tell me ONE thing he has accomplished that qualifies him to be president. He doesn't even have a successful piece of legislation with his name on it. This is a fairy-tale!
Yeah, and George Bush bankrupt the country and got 5000 soldiers and 1.2 million innocent Iraqis killed for oil. I'd rather have a bum on the street running this country than McCain. Look up "SOCIAL SECURITY FUNDING RICH" then tell me how much you like McCain. Look what dictator George has done with all his deregulation. He manipulates oil prices. Caused the biggest housing crises since the great depression. Lets companies pollute where ever they want. You'll need to try harder than Obama's name
How soon you forget. Remember, the Congress voted overwhelmingly to send troops into Iraq. That's a fact every Obama supporter seems to forget. How does Bush manipulate oil prices? I think he would want them low and keep Americans happy during his administration. Obama is an empty shell, and not researched enough before being ordained by the DNC as THE ONE. He has 143 days experience in congress. He has no measurable achievements, except writing 2 books about his favorite subject, himself.
I think congress was controlled by the republicans back then. And the democrats that voted for it were fed Bush's BS about WMD's. As soon as Bush leaves office watch what happens. He's going to jail. And Bush's Wall Street cronies manipulate oil prices. Just look up his pal "Phil gramm," that made the regulation disappear. You think Bush cares about the American people. He did this to get access to those protected areas. Obama may be an empty suit to you, but to me he's NOT a seasoned criminal
Senate and House get the same intelligence information as President, so no Bush BS was fed. I responded to your comment thinking that you were a rational human being. Now, I see you are just an angry left-wing fanatic, who doesn't have control of the facts, unless you buy what ediots like Michael Moore or George Soros are selling. Obama IS a seasoned criminal. Look at the Rezko connection. He got a sweet deal there, and he's only just begun. But, I can see you are irrational, GOOD NIGHT.
The Bush tax cuts don't help the middle class you fool. Even McCain himself admitted that before he flip-flopped on supporting them. And the Democrats will have an energy bill when the GOP gets swept out of Congress.
You should research the issues before you speak. McCain did not initially support or vote for the Bush tax cuts because the bill didn't contain any SPENDING CUTS. Federal Govt. spending is out of control, and he wanted to take a stand against it. If we had curbed spending years ago, we would still have a strong dollar and wouldn't be in this economic mess now. He was always FOR the TAX CUTS! These tax cuts DO help the middle class. Study the facts before you mouth-off.
Look at the track records of politicians who promise to cut government spending. Regan, Bush, Bush etc... Spending usually goes up more during their reign than it does when we have liberals in the white house. Cut government spending is an easy promise to make, but unless McCain can lay out a clear, politically viable way to do it its nothing more than a red herring. The only realistic plan I have heard is withdraw from Iraq, and that's not McCains platform.
I am sure that spending was under much better control during the Reagan administration than the Carter administration. I agree that George Bush has done a horrible job controlling spending, but he hasn't had much help with the so called leadership Pelosi and Reed. John McCain has proposed a total ban on earmarks. This would be the best and easiest way for our government to save millions on wasteful spending. Obama, of course, opposes this, because he likes and uses earmarks.
Your out of your mind. We're well over 10 trillion in debt. By not having an energy policy we borrow money from China to buy Saudi oil. And those spending cuts you talk about have been in place for years now and look at our country. Our schools are closed. Our Bridges and roads are falling apart. Our levies cant hold back water. But bush has all the money in the world for war. That's because there's profits in it for him and his pals. Bankrupt the country so the rich can profit. Real nice.
1, Did you say tax cuts that help the middle class. Social Security Is Funding Tax Cuts for the Rich, Book Charges
American workers are currently paying more than they need to in Social Security taxes in order to finance tax cuts for the super rich. This is among the revelations in a new book on the tax system by a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter for the New York Times. Johnston explains that in 1983, Congress began asking American workers to pay 50 percent more --> -->
2,--> into Social Security than the system would pay out in benefits. The explicit promise, says Johnston, was that the funds would be used to pay off the federal debt so that the government would have the borrowing capacity to pay Social Security benefits to the Baby Boomers when they began retiring. Instead, Johnston says, the surplus money has been spent on tax cuts mainly benefiting the richest one percent of the population.
And what has Obama offered us but a tire gauge? Liberal Democrats want energy to be high, so we can "save the planet." And here you harp on our debts. Which is the party offering increases in social programs, i.e. socialized health care, MORE spending for education, etc... Your so quick to blame Bush, but offer nothing to CUT SPENDING! Who didn't want to fix Social Security? THE DEMOCRATS! The New York Times is NOT a trusted, reliable source, that' a proven fact.
I guess you haven't been keeping up on Obama's issue positions. Who could, they change with the political winds! Now, Obama now favors a 16 month "timetable", regardless of the conditions on the ground. McCain favors a withdrawal, but only after we stabilize Iraq. Obama's original position of immediate "cut and run" was stupid, and therefore, he changed. If you think oil prices are high now, lets leave Iraq today and destabilize the entire region. You don't understand what you are saying.
Only those who rely on Fox News for their distillation of the candidate's messages are confused. Obama has always favored a phased withdrawal plan (reference his War De-escalation act of 2007). The point is to get the Iraqi government to step up sooner rather than later. NOTHING CAN EVER CHANGE unless they assume responsibility - no matter how big a surge we put in place or how long we stay. We should never have been there in the first place, and now we need a plan to get out.
That's a lie, and I DO keep up with the issues. In MANY primary campaign appearances, Obama used the words "immediate and unconditional withdrawal of troops from Iraq." Many of his followers were upset when he caved on this issue. Fox news is the #1--most watched and respected news organization on the air--bar none. I want our troops to leave ASAP. My husband was there for over a year, and we lost personal friends. But we need to finish what we started--we will lose all credibility if not.
What a NASTY, Lying AD. Oil companies are prohibited by law from donating to presidential candidates. I guess Obama was referring to oil company employees, and unlike Obama wishes, US is still a free country. Obama also raked in $345,000, but, in his former position of not wanting to drill, they didn't support him as much. In ten years, oil production will be way down, so what's wrong with profits NOW? With this toxic climate, no wonder we pay other countries for oil! Obama is a socialist pig!
This is not a NASTY, LYING AD. This is an ad that states facts. Ads like the one from McCain saying that Obama is a celebrity and comparing him to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton is a NASTY LYING AD.
Your comment is a NASTY LYING COMMENT because you lie and take shots at Obama calling him a "socialist pig."
So much for running positive ads. Oil companies are not allowed to make political contributions. And if he thinks giving people 1000 bucks is going to bring oil prices down he is crazy. They have dropped 30 dollars a barrel since Bush waived the drilling ban and Republicans have found some stones. This will be an issue like the contract with America. Watch out DemocRATs...
McCain has taken 1.3 million, obama 400k from big oil.
McCain's tax cuts help all businesses, including mine, yours, and oil companies, who would have about $200 million less than this commercials says they would, even though it implies the tax cuts are only for them.
As gas prices rise so do the profit margins for Big Oil. It's simple economics.
I like the fact that Obama sees this and is willing to stand up to these guys and put some of that money back in the pockets of consumers and the economy and not in the deep pockets of Big Oil.
For example: ExxonMobil announced the other day that it earned $11.7 billion in the past three months, the most profitable quarter ever for an American company.
What is so horrible about a company making a profit. Their profit margin is considerably less than many other industries. I'm not positive but I think theirs was around 10% while other companies like Google posted numbers like 27%. Only because ExxonMobil is selling considerably larger volumes of their product are their profits so high.
Companies exist to make profits. I don't know when profit became such a dirty word.
ExxonMobil made more last quarter than any other company in the history of man. That means after buying the crude oil, and paying for the refinement, payment of employees and advertising, the company is still making more money than any other ever.
I do understand your point about percentages, but if a corporation is that big and profiting so much on a commodity that the world relies on, they need to stop getting huge tax breaks and spend some of their hige profits on things that help the world.
Huge tax breaks? Those same huge tax breaks are the reason gas is at about $4/gal and not $5 or $6/gal. Sure Exxon made $11 billion in profit. They also paid the American government $32 billion in taxes.
Maybe Obama should be taking the windfall profits from our Democratic Congress. They can't seem to balance a budget or accomplish anything of note for that matter. Pelosi and co. are on vacation when they should be in Washington fixing this problem.
Oh I see the only way to lower oil prices is by giving huge amounts to big oil. We used to call that bribery. From what I remember it took a Republican White House and Congress to completely unravel the Surplus Clinton left. Fixing this problem? Lemme guess by drilling right? Even though we aren't gonna get a drop out for 10 years (and even then its gonna be sold the highest bidder not necessarily Americans). Hey we got offshore drilling just hang tough for the next decade!! What a joke
No, those tax breaks don't effect the price of gas. The price of gas is effected by the price of crude oil, and its price is effected by availability and cost to manufacture. Because of the war in Iraq, getting crude oil is becoming more expensive and dangerous.
Obama wouldn't take windfall profits from the congress because first, they don't make all that much, and second, it's their job. If Obama takes some of the oil companys huge profit, he would use it to help families with a $1000 refund.
So you're advocating our government to step in and target oil companies and steal their profits just because they're making money. You're advocating the government to pirate the profits of a company that is doing well in a free market and redistribute them to the public? Yeah, that doesn't sound like socialism at all. Where will that stop. Why should the government decide how much a company should be able to make. Absolutely ridiculous.
Okay, but taking their tax cuts away = raising their taxes. Just because they are doing well making profit in a free market. Why should they be punished for performing well as a company? What, it's not fair? You want Barry to take money out of their profit and redistribute it to the public? That way it's more fair?
THAT is socialism. THAT is not the answer. When does that stop? Why should government punish companies because in their mind they are making too much?
Now you're starting to repeat yourself. It is not raising their taxes. It is taking away a benefit meant only for companies that are struggling. If you were on welfare, and you suddenly made millions of dollars, would it be punishment? No, you just don't need the help any more.
taking tax cuts does not = raising taxes. The reason these companies should be taxed heavily is because the way they make their money is very destructive & someone has to pay for the clean up. Iraq has cost $543,000,000,000 so far not to mention the other underhandedness, cronyism & & of course the cost to the environment which will be very expensive indeed. We have no choice but to use oil which is therefore not a free market but in fact one they designed specifically to hold us to ransom
You sound like an oil executive. Any economist will tell you that there is no such thing as a truly capatlist or socialist goverment. Furthermore, we need laws like this in place. Exon was originally founded by the Rocefelers, who are the same family that constituted the anti-trust law; now, Sen. Rocafeller sets in office on capital hill. What kind of goverment should we label it when all the politicians make their policies just to line their pockets.
This is a dishonest ad! Because first, corporations cannot give contributions to candidates and because employees of oil companies have also donated to Obama.
Wait, you mean like McCain's camp falsely claimed Obama canceled a trip to see veterans because cameras weren't allowed -- something completely made up? Gee. At least Obama's ad is at least mostly true. McCain's ad was pure lies.
No, companies can and do give donations to candidates by influencing those high up, and other employees to donate to a candidate the maximum amount of $2,300. Usually those who donate will get secretly reimbursed.
The Washington Post reported that McCain received $1.1 million from oil and gas industry executives and employees in June -- three-quarters of which came after he called for lifting the ban on offshore drilling on June 16.
Obama's ad sources the Washington Post and the Center for Responsive Politics, which showed that Obama has received about $345,000 from the oil and gas industry this year.

Nice Math President Obama.
McCain has taken 1.3 million, obama 400k from big oil.
McCain's tax cuts help all businesses, including mine, yours, and oil companies, who would have about $200 million less than this commercials says they would, even though it implies the tax cuts are only for them.

It's not his math, it is a direct quote from a report.

Think about that!
TranzorZpsd 3 years ago 3
What is so horrible about a company making a profit. Their profit margin is considerably less than many other industries. I'm not positive but I think theirs was around 10% while other companies like Google posted numbers like 27%. Only because ExxonMobil is selling considerably larger volumes of their product are their profits so high.
Companies exist to make profits. I don't know when profit became such a dirty word.

Well said!!
BORNTWYCE 3 years ago 2
ExxonMobil made more last quarter than any other company in the history of man. That means after buying the crude oil, and paying for the refinement, payment of employees and advertising, the company is still making more money than any other ever.
I do understand your point about percentages, but if a corporation is that big and profiting so much on a commodity that the world relies on, they need to stop getting huge tax breaks and spend some of their hige profits on things that help the world.
smurfvolta 3 years ago
Huge tax breaks? Those same huge tax breaks are the reason gas is at about $4/gal and not $5 or $6/gal. Sure Exxon made $11 billion in profit. They also paid the American government $32 billion in taxes.
Maybe Obama should be taking the windfall profits from our Democratic Congress. They can't seem to balance a budget or accomplish anything of note for that matter. Pelosi and co. are on vacation when they should be in Washington fixing this problem.
osutitan1327 3 years ago 3
Oh I see the only way to lower oil prices is by giving huge amounts to big oil. We used to call that bribery. From what I remember it took a Republican White House and Congress to completely unravel the Surplus Clinton left. Fixing this problem? Lemme guess by drilling right? Even though we aren't gonna get a drop out for 10 years (and even then its gonna be sold the highest bidder not necessarily Americans). Hey we got offshore drilling just hang tough for the next decade!! What a joke
meanmotor74 3 years ago
No, those tax breaks don't effect the price of gas. The price of gas is effected by the price of crude oil, and its price is effected by availability and cost to manufacture. Because of the war in Iraq, getting crude oil is becoming more expensive and dangerous.
Obama wouldn't take windfall profits from the congress because first, they don't make all that much, and second, it's their job. If Obama takes some of the oil companys huge profit, he would use it to help families with a $1000 refund.
smurfvolta 3 years ago
So you're advocating our government to step in and target oil companies and steal their profits just because they're making money. You're advocating the government to pirate the profits of a company that is doing well in a free market and redistribute them to the public? Yeah, that doesn't sound like socialism at all. Where will that stop. Why should the government decide how much a company should be able to make. Absolutely ridiculous.
osutitan1327 3 years ago
No, I am advocating that their tax cuts should be taken away, since it's obvious they are in no financial troubles.
smurfvolta 3 years ago
Okay, but taking their tax cuts away = raising their taxes. Just because they are doing well making profit in a free market. Why should they be punished for performing well as a company? What, it's not fair? You want Barry to take money out of their profit and redistribute it to the public? That way it's more fair?
THAT is socialism. THAT is not the answer. When does that stop? Why should government punish companies because in their mind they are making too much?
osutitan1327 3 years ago
Now you're starting to repeat yourself. It is not raising their taxes. It is taking away a benefit meant only for companies that are struggling. If you were on welfare, and you suddenly made millions of dollars, would it be punishment? No, you just don't need the help any more.
smurfvolta 3 years ago
taking tax cuts does not = raising taxes. The reason these companies should be taxed heavily is because the way they make their money is very destructive & someone has to pay for the clean up. Iraq has cost $543,000,000,000 so far not to mention the other underhandedness, cronyism & & of course the cost to the environment which will be very expensive indeed. We have no choice but to use oil which is therefore not a free market but in fact one they designed specifically to hold us to ransom
mattelliottmusic 3 years ago 2
You sound like an oil executive. Any economist will tell you that there is no such thing as a truly capatlist or socialist goverment. Furthermore, we need laws like this in place. Exon was originally founded by the Rocefelers, who are the same family that constituted the anti-trust law; now, Sen. Rocafeller sets in office on capital hill. What kind of goverment should we label it when all the politicians make their policies just to line their pockets.
pappafox1229 3 years ago
This is a dishonest ad! Because first, corporations cannot give contributions to candidates and because employees of oil companies have also donated to Obama.
BORNTWYCE 3 years ago
Wait, you mean like McCain's camp falsely claimed Obama canceled a trip to see veterans because cameras weren't allowed -- something completely made up? Gee. At least Obama's ad is at least mostly true. McCain's ad was pure lies.
8394147 3 years ago 2
No, companies can and do give donations to candidates by influencing those high up, and other employees to donate to a candidate the maximum amount of $2,300. Usually those who donate will get secretly reimbursed.
smurfvolta 3 years ago
The Washington Post reported that McCain received $1.1 million from oil and gas industry executives and employees in June -- three-quarters of which came after he called for lifting the ban on offshore drilling on June 16.
BORNTWYCE 3 years ago
Obama's ad sources the Washington Post and the Center for Responsive Politics, which showed that Obama has received about $345,000 from the oil and gas industry this year.
BORNTWYCE 3 years ago
Yeah, about 1/6th of McCain.
