jux got my d90. i am quite disappointed with the video quality. i shouldnt say much cox i a newbie. any settings apart from lens change to improve on it? kindly advice guys thanks a mil
It is the frame rate that causes the "wobble". If it were the sensor the wobble would aldo be noticed when panning up and down. The wobble will only be noticed when moving quickly from side to side. The d90 has a frame rate of 24 frames/sec.
@stevenvcook no, its the sensor, the sensor grabs frames like a scanner, from top to bottom, it also happens when going up and down, it squishes the image down or up, depending on the direction.
These camera's are not meant for filming, because there is such a high pixel density that the sensor cannot not physically keep up. 1080p is roughly 2.5 megapixels.
Actually fast action also causes wobble effect. There are films shot from a speeding car. The rolling shutter causes passing trees and poles to lean heavily towards the motion.
Okay.. I am so glad you posted this... I am thinking about getting a sony z5u.... I want to know if this rolling sutter problem will be apparent when filming a wedding reception. DJ's use strobe lights and want to know if this will cause a problem... If anyone can.... please post a video using a camera with cmos technology during a reception with strobe lights.. I would greatly appreciate any info!!!
Rolling shutter! please check out my video "australian 20 cent coin takes centre stage" to see the effects of rolling shutter on the subject in motion, rather than the camera in motion!
they call that the jello effect

Why actually WOBBLE effect happen?! Sensor cannot follow fast changing pixels???? I don't understand how this works.....strange.
If you put camera on tripod and film very fast action it won'r wobble
ciril2010 2 years ago
The camera reads from top to bottom, not everything at once.
And yes, RED has rolling shutter/wobble aswell, not as bad as the D90 thou.

it has to wobble... its an electronic censor -_-a

RED cameras don't have wobble. They use electronic sensors.
ReikiH 2 years ago
Yeah they do, but it's not very noticeable and makes it look more filmic.
