Actually the original Apache is from Jerry Lordan, The Shadows learnt it when they where touring with Jerry Lordan (The Shadows where the first one to record it).

The most famous Apache is from Michael Vinner's Bongo band, with the mean drum break being sampled in +100, mainly hiphop, songs (the Apache Break). The Sugar Hill gang is sampled from Michale Vinners version.
