The best player I've ever seen and I saw quite a few good players like Baggio, Ronaldo (Fat one, the one and only Ronaldo), Hagi, Zidane and a bit of Maradona. In years to come, with nostalgia I can say I saw him play and nobody can get that away from those lucky ones like us who saw him. Thank you Michael for all those moments of sheer brilliance!
Jesus I knew Laudrup was good but considering most players & coaches said he'd give 80-90%, imagine what he would of been like at 100%. Damn I'll take 80-90% of his awesomeness.
His ability to keep the ball so close to him all the time is just amazing! He's not trying to be fancy, he is just handling the ball with perfect control and passing it with tremendous precision.
shit i just heard of this guy tonight during a drunken debate of the two best midfielders of all time, i said scholes and zidane but this guy... fuck i must have been living under a rock...
He was the real reason Romario won the award for best player in the world while he was in Barca, the same with Stoichkov, Zamorano etc. and made them all topscorer in La Liga.
"Control, speed, mentality, versatility, perfection, quality, tremendous accuracy to provide short and long passes, has the right to be in the hall of fame is just Michael Laudrup".
@TheNuncFluens Ivan the Terrible was only Pichichi once, but that doesn't change the fact that he was a great player. Just because he misses a few chances in this video, doesn't mean he wasn't lethal.
I think if La Liga got the coverage it did these days, Laudrup would be even more highly rated. 5 league titles in a row with 2 different teams has never been done by anyone else
I just find it funny that, 1 season he wins the spanish championship with Barcelona, he then changes to Real Madrid the next season, and wins it with them... That is just awesome. I like him because a) he must be the player with the best overview and understanding of the game and how the ball moves and how he can move it, ever. b) In all the matches I saw him play I haven't seen him throw a fit, or act to get a freekick/penalty, keep acting for theater and movies please.
Laudrup made everything look beautiful. Few sports have ebauty, football does and the Laurdrup brothers made it look special. Laudrup played his own way an created more goals than he scored. He won alot at top teams so he proved himself. Always a joy to watch is Laudrup.
Football isn't long jumping, so it's hard to compare players, but Michael Laudrup was my favorite player of the 80/90'es. His speed, elegance, vision, technique was simply fantastic. And I LOVE his signature dribble: going real close to his opponent and then moving the ball from one foot to the other and AWAY he goes.
If you can go through a career without getting a red card, without ever bringing the beautiful game in miscredit i.e yelling at referees or filming and still bringing that kind of excitement you are gift to football
@kortam11 Brøndby IF 1982-1983 // SS Lazio 1983-1985 // Juventus 1985-1989 // FC Barcelona 1989-1994 // Real Madrid 1994-1996 // Vissel Kobe 1996-1997 // Ajax 1997-1998 ....
@cuteiitian1 They have the same signature move to get past defenders. Difference is Laudrup had much better playmaking and passing ability. Laudrup's vision to play the final pass is arguably the best ever - Better than Maradona, Xavi, Zidane, Ronaldinho. I've never seen anyone that can pass like Michael Laudrup. Unfortunately Michael Laudrup never scored as many goals as he should and he was said to be mentally weak sometimes. Iniesta for me is mentally stronger, but Laudrup was more talented.
@WhoLueYou I agree but perhaps it wasnt so much he didnt score enough goals - he averaged 15 a season, which is passable - but that his long shot was rarely a threat. And as you say he wasn't a leader on the pitch - He is "incomplete" you can say.
But as a pure passer of the ball, you simply cannot get any better, a few may have equaled him, but they never bettered him.

@chubnostics i totally agree with you on this...i rate bergkamp highly, with zidane being best player of modern era..but some of laudrups videos make him look truly immense..he was truly respected also by barca and real after he switched which wud b unheard of now
@upthearsenal316 .ca you please explain to me how onearth zidane is the ebst player of the modern era?lol.i look forward to this.zidane was beaten by rui costa to the ebst attacking midfielder award 3 ties in seria when zidane wa sin his prime and yet zidane kept winning the fifa awarda?makes sense?no. laudrup beats zidane by miles in vision, passing, speed of thought, etc.
@laudrup90 your obviously a laudrup fan guessing from your nickname on here..im guessing your danish and you grew up in the 80s when laudrup was in his pomp?! ..im 26 grew up in u.k been a football fan since 10 and in my opinion zidane is the best player of modern era..even better than my heros bergkamp and henry for the sole reason that on the BIGGEST occassion when other players may have crumbled zidane more than anyone else rose to it...
@upthearsenal316 .i am a big fan of laudrup but im not danish. im not hating on zidane, zidane was sheer world class by every definition but doing well against brasil doersnt eman you stepped up every game.like i said he might as well not have turned up for juventus in those 2 finals in a row,the same with the frewnch team he was palying for ehen he lost the uefa cup,at juventus when del piero got his innjury in 1998 juvenuts struggled for years and zidane was nowhere to help.
@laudrup90 some people class the ' modern era' of football post 1994 world cup , bascially after maradonna finished after he had had his time in spotlight as world no 1 player , reason i rate zidane so highly is that he had consistently been near the top of the best players since 1994 and in his case upto 2006 , for me what makes zidane stand out is he rose more than any other player to the BIGGEST occassion , better than ronaldinho, both the ronaldos, figo, rivaldo
@upthearsenal316 .no he never. he was completely absent in both champiks elague final defeats tfor juventus and the uefa cup defeat at the french team he was playing for. ruo costa ebat him tot he ebst attacking midfielder award three times during zidanes prime.zidane wasnt ht ebest or near the ebst in 94,95,95,and post 2003 he did nothing except the world cup 2006 where he was amazing against spain and brazil but thats all.
@upthearsenal316 .also ronaldo the brasilian was THE big game player except world cup final 98 where he had a siezure before the infla but he has performed and scored i every final he has played in.copa america, uefa, for barcelona in winner cup copa del rey, inters big game like uefa cup, etc, etc. so again zidane =world class but he has never performed in the biggest games more than other greats. i dont even mention c ronaldo in that rbacket tough. hes a great goalscorer but is lacking overall.
@laudrup90 good point about ronaldo ...he is the second best player in my lifetime..the 96/97 season he had at barca ..for me personally is better than the season messi is having currently that is my imo..ronaldo was immense there..ronaldo the greatest player never to win champs league..by the way i dont rate c.ronaldo most overrated player to ever win world player of year...while t henry 2002-2004 best player never to be crowned it imo
@upthearsenal316 .my spelling sucks so im sorry if i dont get my point across but lastly if you were to comapre them, laudrups vision, speed of thought, techniqe and unique dribbling is better. but zidane was more of a old school ball playing no 10 were as laudrup was more simple.both world class and both amazing. zidane was probaly more complete is well but apart from that i would rate laudrup higher.people tend to overrate players who win world player of the year.
@chubnostics I know your comment is a year old but I totally agree with you. I have always admired him and acknowledged that Laudrup was an amazing player but man like you said perfectly the more I watch him I start to think why isn't he mentioned more when discussions about who was the greatest ever.
@vavashroom .he didnt score enough goals, just like platini said. he hardly ever tried 100% like cruijff said and he was from denmar.simple.world player fo the eyar award is overrated,as is the world cup so obv audrup never features in those lists nut hes a legend who is admred by other legends like platini, romario, cruijff, neckenbauer, raul, etc.
@chubnostics - I'm sure he could have been voted player of the year at least once, and maybe twice. But certain things worked against that: His efforts not to draw attention to himself, the danish national team's failure to reach a number of championships, and last but not least his refusal to play for Denmark for a period, which meant that the 1992 european championship was won without Michael Laudrup in the team.
Michael, his brother Brian and Jan Mølby (Liverpool) abandoned the team after a 0-2 loss i 1990 at home to Yugoslavia. Allegedly after some controversy with coach Richard Møller Nielsen, who had decided to drop Brian from the team. He went on to play in that match tho.
@chubnostics Laudrup [Michael] had a special way with a football. He had a brain and could see a pass, he could dribble also. Most top players can do only one of these.
Grande,a lo mejor no fue elegido el mejor jugador, pero los entendidos y los que le gustan el futbol saben quien es Michael Laudrup y todos los que amamos el futbol lo llevamos en nuestro corazon.Muy buen video
@laudrup90 I meant they both play similar style, and of course Iniesta will be the one emulating him....no need to use words like "idiot"...it doesn't make you sound cool:D
Great video! On the best, most skillful & intelligent player ever ! His incredible balance makes his insane moves easy. Michael Laudrup is not the athletic sprinter but his "football brain" was so unbelievable fast. His "thinking" speed was way ahead of his opponents.
Played football with his super-fast thinking & instinctive, imaginative, creative vision.
@thrillamf Exactly. Zidane, good as he was, was a bit on the slow side and scored few goals. Laudrup was more well-rounded as an attacking midfielder.
But yeah, while the awards defaulted to the habitual dutch or french or brazilian players, Laudrup was sadly overlooked. He should have got it in 1991, who was better then?
he makes me remember to Juan Roman Riquelme, the argentinian player. Both are really good. I like Riquelme and Laudrup, elegance and good football ever...
You can so easily see how Iniesta, Xavi, Fabregas, Guti... in truth all the great playmakers of modern football, was influenced by Laudrup. A true great
the assist at 2.20 is outrageous. an utterly impossible pass. this is the stuff that inspires players like xavi, guti and sneijder to do what they do.
He is amazing!! Just look at the way he goes around defender!! His right leg pasing the ball to his left leg!! Pure control, so much better than those silly stepovers!!!

@laudrup90 some people class the ' modern era' of football post 1994 world cup , bascially after maradonna finished after he had had his time in spotlight as world no 1 player , reason i rate zidane so highly is that he had consistently been near the top of the best players since 1994 and in his case upto 2006 , for me what makes zidane stand out is he rose more than any other player to the BIGGEST occassion , better than ronaldinho, both the ronaldos, figo, rivaldo
upthearsenal316 10 months ago
@upthearsenal316 .no he never. he was completely absent in both champiks elague final defeats tfor juventus and the uefa cup defeat at the french team he was playing for. ruo costa ebat him tot he ebst attacking midfielder award three times during zidanes prime.zidane wasnt ht ebest or near the ebst in 94,95,95,and post 2003 he did nothing except the world cup 2006 where he was amazing against spain and brazil but thats all.
laudrup90 10 months ago
@upthearsenal316 .also ronaldo the brasilian was THE big game player except world cup final 98 where he had a siezure before the infla but he has performed and scored i every final he has played in.copa america, uefa, for barcelona in winner cup copa del rey, inters big game like uefa cup, etc, etc. so again zidane =world class but he has never performed in the biggest games more than other greats. i dont even mention c ronaldo in that rbacket tough. hes a great goalscorer but is lacking overall.
laudrup90 10 months ago
@laudrup90 good point about ronaldo ...he is the second best player in my lifetime..the 96/97 season he had at barca ..for me personally is better than the season messi is having currently that is my imo..ronaldo was immense there..ronaldo the greatest player never to win champs league..by the way i dont rate c.ronaldo most overrated player to ever win world player of year...while t henry 2002-2004 best player never to be crowned it imo
upthearsenal316 10 months ago
@upthearsenal316 .my spelling sucks so im sorry if i dont get my point across but lastly if you were to comapre them, laudrups vision, speed of thought, techniqe and unique dribbling is better. but zidane was more of a old school ball playing no 10 were as laudrup was more simple.both world class and both amazing. zidane was probaly more complete is well but apart from that i would rate laudrup higher.people tend to overrate players who win world player of the year.
laudrup90 10 months ago
@chubnostics I know your comment is a year old but I totally agree with you. I have always admired him and acknowledged that Laudrup was an amazing player but man like you said perfectly the more I watch him I start to think why isn't he mentioned more when discussions about who was the greatest ever.
vavashroom 5 months ago
@vavashroom .he didnt score enough goals, just like platini said. he hardly ever tried 100% like cruijff said and he was from denmar.simple.world player fo the eyar award is overrated,as is the world cup so obv audrup never features in those lists nut hes a legend who is admred by other legends like platini, romario, cruijff, neckenbauer, raul, etc.
M10663 4 months ago
@chubnostics - I'm sure he could have been voted player of the year at least once, and maybe twice. But certain things worked against that: His efforts not to draw attention to himself, the danish national team's failure to reach a number of championships, and last but not least his refusal to play for Denmark for a period, which meant that the 1992 european championship was won without Michael Laudrup in the team.
1afverassommervenner 4 months ago
@chubnostics
1afverassommervenner 4 months ago
@chubnostics Laudrup [Michael] had a special way with a football. He had a brain and could see a pass, he could dribble also. Most top players can do only one of these.

I am 38 years old. I barely watch ML when I was younger, obviously he was a great midfield player.

Great video! On the best, most skillful & intelligent player ever ! His incredible balance makes his insane moves easy. Michael Laudrup is not the athletic sprinter but his "football brain" was so unbelievable fast. His "thinking" speed was way ahead of his opponents.
Played football with his super-fast thinking & instinctive, imaginative, creative vision.

what a player..so often overlooked in the great players lists but he was sensational.
aks73 1 year ago
He looks like a faster more agile version of Zidane. He should have played at Euro 92. That would have gotten him more fame.
thrillamf 1 year ago
@thrillamf Exactly. Zidane, good as he was, was a bit on the slow side and scored few goals. Laudrup was more well-rounded as an attacking midfielder.
But yeah, while the awards defaulted to the habitual dutch or french or brazilian players, Laudrup was sadly overlooked. He should have got it in 1991, who was better then?

@MarkusGrenaa Det tror jeg alle, der har set hans videoer gør ^^

the assist at 2.20 is outrageous. an utterly impossible pass. this is the stuff that inspires players like xavi, guti and sneijder to do what they do.
