My highlight of DJ'ing at clubs was playing the same tunes that got me hooked in the first place...I first heard this at Valentino's, Stoke On Trent., at the age of 16.Loved it and the tunes the DJ was playing at the time..I got decks , leaned how to mix and got residencies at The Place,, Stoke and Evolution, Leeds..I used to play this in Leeds and the place erupted every time.

Might sound stupid, but I would class it as if you support your local footy team as a kid and you get to play for them

Playing this as a 15 yr old on tape in the car driving (illegally.....obviously!!) down Blackpool prom at 3am sunday morning, gave a lift to 2 lads from Moss Side, went to ¨gathering¨ at Starr Gate and had one of the greatest nights of my life!! There was a remake released in 2009 which is on itunes (search: asha J. J. Tribute) Check the Primitive mix on that album. I don't have that version so I'm not sure if it's the original or the one with different vocal that was released in 94/95.

Sounds were cool, times were brill. But each generation of dancers/clubbers/peeps into their music all think that they were 'different' and 'their scene' was the best. My roots are in Northern Soul and we had an excellent scene till it grew too comercial. Then there was the Funk/Jazz Funk scene which also was great.

Go back b4 Northern righ back b4 rock n roll to Skiffle and the Jazz n Blues. Theres always been a great music scene somewhere. As long as it stays underground. Love and Peace!!
