  • Let's just say if Me-TV airs one of those lost episodes of Five-O it can give Me-TV horrible times because of the hanging and the one when he said the boy killed my daughter and he is going to be punished. Hawaii Five-O will air the lost episode again on Me-TV and it will not include...

    1. The girl hanging herself dead

    2. The one when Kano said "Don Miles, you're under arrest."

    3. The one when he said boy killed his daughter and Don is going to be punished.

  • I just completed watching the full epi referenced above. Even my 11-year-old was with me for a bit, and I explained the controversy to her.

Thank you, jacklord1920, for giving us the 1st glimpse, and also thanks to *beraquesso* for airing it in full!

    Aloha, friends!

  • This episode aired once on Jan 7, 1970. Due to it's portrayal of the Hari Krishna, a lawsuit was threatened. To settle any possible legal problems, CBS agreed to never air the episode again. This episode never aired in re-runs or in syndication and was not included in the Season 2 DVD release of the series. The oft found story that it was because of fears of copycat hanging deaths is a myth. The Internet copy is taken from a film print. It is also available on BOOTLEG DVDs from Australia.

  • @gent11763 I think that is banned becuase of the Hari Krishna and the hanging on the noose around her neck which was shown and lawsuit. CBS stopped airing in the early 1970s because it is unaired in United Kingdom.

  • This episode is available on the Australian verion of "The Second Season." They can usally be found on the Aus. Ebay site. Despie the set being region 4, it will play on many pcs and some US dvd players.

  • does anyone know whatever happened to actor Jack lord?

  • @traceymallard Mr. Lord lived for many years in retirement in Honolulu at his apartment in Kahala with his wife. He made ocassional appearances as host of the Aloha Week Parade segment of CBS All-American Thanksgiving Day Parade. However, he developed Alzheimer's Disease and died some years years ago. There is a bust of him at Kahala Mall (outside Macy's) that was dedicated in his memory.

  • This is very nice. Now us completists only need the Gary Busey revival of the cast in '97.

  • Whoever decided that this episode can't be on the dvd set is just stupid. I mean, we are adults here. I wouldn't hang myself from seeing this any more than I would shoot myself if I saw that on tv. I've never seen this episode but love Hawaii Five-O and have all 10 seasons so far on dvd. Thanks for posting a long teaser here.

  • How did he get this episode? After someone died in real life, like the person in the show, they yanked it and never showed it again, never in reruns and won't include it in the DVD package.

  • The intro to this episode I must say is strange and disturbing, and it was much more so back when it first aired. When we watch Hawaii Five-0 we expect the shooting and some violence; however, when a little kid walks in and unexpectingly sees a woman hanging from the ceiling...now that's something else. The background music makes it even more shocking.

  • Thanks for posting! I seem to remember a similar spooky episode of Barnaby Jones that involved a noose hanging or suicide in a bathroom I think...not sure.

  • These were the days when we had great sitcoms, nighttime dramas, variety shows and there were only 10 minutes of commercials and promos per hour...by law! If YOU are tired of infomercials disguised as entertainment, sleazy reality shows worth $1.98 in today's money, then "I want you to get up! I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now, and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell, 'I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this any more!' "

  • The wife of the show's producer, Leonard Freeman, attended a Five-O convention in '96. She learned from the convention goers that someone in real life committed suicide by emulating the hanging scene shown in this Season 2 episode: "Bored, She Hung Herself". She asked CBS not to rebroadcast this particular episode again and not to release it on DVD. Apparently, CBS respected those wishes.

  • @ajp9226 That reason for omission makes more sense than the lawsuit angle. I'm optimistic in believing it will be released but I do think it'll be after her passing.

  • @ajp9226 That is correct. However, I saw in another post that the episode is available on the DVD set issued in Australia. How is that possible if it comes from the same source/company?

  • Six Kilos is on Season 1 disc 7

  • Why is this episode omitted from DVD releases and TV reruns ? I have never seen this episode !!

  • besides extra bonus: for the final season of Hawaii Five-O on DVD. Six Kilos and Bored, She Hung Herself.

  • @withoutanygreen

Uh Six Kilos is on the First Season DVD on Hawaii Five-O. Its the second to last episode on the sixth disc.

  • @charmedspice50 Bored, She Hung Herself will be on DVD on Hawaii Five-O lost episodes.

  • @withoutanygreen How do you know that Bored, She Hung Herself will be on DVD? It is really going to be on the last season dvd set of Hawaii Five-O? In my reply I said nothing about that Bored, She Hung Herself I was only telling you about Six Kilos being on the first season dvd set.

  • @charmedspice50 So you told me that six kilos is on tht dvd set. But Bored She Hung Herself will be on Region One DVD she moves to USA who had a copy of the missing episode that aired on CBS.

  • @withoutanygreen I have no clue has to what the heck you are talking about. Are you trying to say that Bored, She Hung Herself will be on a release on the First Season DVD set of Hawaii Five-O? Who is this she person? And what Region One DVD set will this episode be on? Because I am really confused as to what you are talking about.

  • @charmedspice50 The lady from Australia who had the copy of Bored, She Hung Herself and it will be on the last season on DVD on Region 1.

  • @withoutanygreen Okay now I get it I think. How do you know this information if you didn't mind me asking?

  • @charmedspice50 I looked at the missing episode on facebook and now did i make sense?

  • @withoutanygreen Okay I found where you looked at the missing episode on Facebook. It does make sense to me now. I have looked at it but I don't see anywhere it says that it is going to be released. Can you give me the exact post of where you found this? Was it on the Hawaii Five-O Celebration fan page on Facebook?

  • If you do a search on the internet under the title of the episode, you'll find a download of the entire episode, same quality as above.

  • @McGarrett1968 Thanks so much for sharing the whole episode!! I am a huge fan of the show and until a few days ago I thought I had every episode of the show--now I do! Thanks again!

  • Why was the episode lost?

  • DebJay34 You really would think that this episode would now be available on the DVD boxsets, afterall, this IS the 21st century. Lets hope before the final season is released Bored She Hung Herself will have seen the light of DVD day.

  • @DebJay34

I am sorry to disappoint you this episode will never be released. When this episode was originally aired a child had copied what was going on the TV. The child died as a result. CBS or Paramount at the time made a decision never to show that episode again in syndication's. I don't know if this a agreement they made with the parents or if it was there own decision. When Season 2 of the DVD was planned they were going to have this episode but they decide to drop it.

  • @wozvideo

Even if it's true that a child copied this, withdrawing the episode must have been a voluntary decision by the TV company. There's no way that anyone could claim they were responsible for the actions of someone 'copying' it. The only person responsible is the person who attempted it. And how is this episode more dangerous than trying to copy Spider Man or Superman or any number of other TV characters doing dangerous things? It was a completely illogical and stupid decision.

  • @tonyrome67

Leonard Freeman wife did confirm in 1993 at a convention that a child did die as a result of watching the show. I don't know if it was voluntary or not to withdraw the episode from syndication's. But the decision was made either by CBS or Paramount to never show it again. I don't know what was said or if a deal was even done with the parents. But we weren't there and we will never know the reason why they made the decision that they made.

  • @wozvideo

Yes, I appreciate we weren't there to hear this reasoning by CBS. However, regardless of what was said, it simply doesn't make sense, does it? Think about all the dangerous things we see on TV and in films ALL THE TIME! It doesn't stop those being shown, does it? It has been 40 years! What exactly is the point of continuing this censorship now? I've seen the episode and it's not even particularly good but that's not the point...

  • @tonyrome67

I agree it doesn't make sense and that's why i think it wasn't voluntary to withdraw the episode. I mean they nearly released the episode on DVD but didn't because something was stopping them from doing so. My guess is there is some legal issue with it.

  • @wozvideo The same questions were raised when watching a "Beavis & Butthead" epi led someone to set a fire that burned their home and killed a kid... I don't know if MTV(a CBS company also) yanked that epi.

And also: Comedy Central(also a CBS company) airs "South Park," in which one of the kids, Kenny, dies a gruesome death each week. Has anyone tried to yank that off? I believe not in this case, for it airs after 10PM, when kids are likely asleep.

  • @tonyrome67 Part 2

I agree people are responsible for there own actions. In this case the parents were responsible. They should have been supervising or not let the child watch it at all. And yes there are far worse TV programs than Five0. I do question if it was voluntary. My gut feeling is that it wasn't. The best thing everyone can do is email Paramount.

  • @DebJay34

    Part 2

I assume the parents of the child are still alive and this could be the reason why it wasn't included on the DVD. How ever i believe that Paramount and CBS shouldn't be censoring this. Five 0 is a adult show and not a children show. Parental guidance is always recommended. There are far worse violence s shows on five 0 and on other TV programs.

I suggest that everyone email Paramount and demand to have the episode put on to DVD.

  • @DebJay34

    Part 3

I hope Paramount will released this on the last DVD. And i would have it as a separate disc with warnings all over the disc. Do not try this at home. Do not let your children watch it. Parental guidance is recommended. You could also have all these warnings when you start up the disc.

  • Steve McGarrett wears a black suit with two button jacket insted of the customary 3 button jacket he wears.

  • If CBS puts this lost episode CBS will be punished for 5 days or maybe 16 weeks!

  • post it in pieces please

  • why not post the whole episode? or at least let us know where we can view the entire episode?????

  • It is impossible to post whole episode on YouTube... They are limiting the file size both in size (how large it is) and length (whole long the clipping is). This episode is not available on the DVD and is not being re-broadcast on TV as it is not part of synchronisation since the original run in the late 1960s. Only a few copies remain from people who have taped it back then when it originally aired.

  • Use editing software to break it up into pieces - say 7 or 8 minutes each.

  • Well, that's because if this episode reruns then Hawaii Five-O dosen't count.

  • @jacklord1920 oh so do they have this episode?

  • @jacklord1920

Of course it's not 'impossible' to post the whole episode! You just have to break it down into 10 minute pieces, that's all.

Anyway, it's good to see that the episode has survived, even if the quality is poor. It's a shame that the official DVD releases exclude this. I don't believe in this kind of 'censorship', as you could quite easily justify not showing anything at all for fear of someone copying it.

  • @jacklord1920 Uh, who had a home video recorder in 1970? This copy is obviously from a 16mm print.

  • @eyeh8nbc Hi there. Of course its from 16mm - who claimed something else? I hope you enjoy the version.

  • @jacklord1920 - You can now upload 15 minute videos on Youtube. Which means you can upload the entire episode by splitting it into three ( or four) parts.

  • @jacklord1920 I have found whole episodes uploaded as multiple 10 minute segments, and as a single video upload. If I remember the Youtube account rules, most accounts are limited to the 10 minute rule, but if you have a "directors" ( I think that's what they call it), the limit is either higher or nonexistent.

  • Wow, One Step Beyond Hawaii! I stopped watching after 30 seconds because I was afraid I would hang myself.

  • @marksecunda You know lately because if CBS puts this episode back CBS will ground himself instead or if this episode is syndicated it's only the worst and no more Hawaii Five-O.

  • or if it reruns no more episodes of Hawaii Five-0.

  • @marksecunda

Thats exactly what happen to a child. The child died. And this episode was never seen again as a result.

  • You can download the whole episode via rapidshare - its free too....

  • Can you send the link to download this episode??

Would enjoy watching the entire episode!!!

  • How about giving us the whole episode???
