  • Unbelievable that this only got 6,000+ views in nearly 2 yrs.. Sad that bop & it's early proponents are lost on so much of today's public. My dad listened to swing when I was a kid, but when I discovered bop, that was IT!! No Internet yet, but NY radio had lots of jazz! With an FM radio and a tape recorder, I soaked it all up, eventually became a musician. This music is so accessible to everyone now, tx to cd re-issues & the web-- What a wonderful era for young'uns to discover new (old) music!

  • If you've ever read ON THE ROAD (Jack Kerouac) this song is mentioned in it. Kerouac loved it....

  • @FlaviusMaximus1967 That's how I got to search and find this song. I'm reading the book.

  • @carolinaki1 same here, great book

  • I don't know about the drummer...

  • Epic record. Let's not forget this stuff.

  • Its just Bop

  • Is this swing or bebop?

  • @titostacos

    Bebop.

  • @titostacos both, my brother, both! that's the beauty of it!

  • I like this tune "The Chase" by Dex and Gray. I also like "The Chase and The Steeple Chase" from Decca label. recorded at The Pasadena auditorium. Dex's sound is more heavy than Gray. Gray's ad lib is quite smooth, and sound is light but good feeling I really like The Two Tenor Giant's Dex and Gray^^!

    Thank you for uploading.

  • Bloody MARVELLOUS

the sonority of Wardell Gray is such a contrast to the roughness of Dexter Gordon

    Five Stars !!!!!!!!!!!!
