you only need a golden key for LOCKED golden chests, which are found in dungeons and on floating islands.

Is it just me that has no idea what toby's doing? in 7 episodes all he's done is build a house and fight the eye and now summon the eater of worlds... the eye was unavoidable because it always happens when you start a new world, but why's he digging up sand and fighting the eater of worlds for about the 5th time? there's tons of new content to waste time with without having to do all the old content again.
