Paint Horse Story with severed left front deep digital flex

I know this was a long time ago but I was just curious 2 find out if he ever recovered? My mare has torn her DDFT in her right hind, although not all the way through. I've been trying hard 2 find out as much as I can about these injuries & all I'm able 2 find r horror stories of horses who never return 2 work. My mare is an incredible jumper with a heart of gold & my hopes are that she will be able 2 jump again. Pls let me how well ur horse recovered, it would just give me new hope. Thank you!

I just watched it and to be honest I didn't like it. It has NOTHING to do with not liking to see animals in extreme pain and what have you. Just that this little film stired up way too many sad emotions in me and I nearly cried ;-(. Plus everyone gets so flippin gooey and protective about their oh so sweet darling little horses- damn I hate that!

@The101airborne; That horse is VERY lucky to have such a caring owner that could afford the treatment and time for recovery. Unfortunately, I've had to put a couple horses down because of similar injuries. Cheers to you and your family! Oh, and your horse.

If that was my horse I would have had him put down. To see that horse in so much pain is just sad. Horses cant lie down to rest if they injure a leg, they have to stand on it for hours a day.

No Not really I had to sling my horse for 6 weeks due to a fracture of the cannon bone I dont due much riding on him anymore but he made a great recovery and yeah he was in alot of pain but with love pain killers and the sling he is doing great now.

Good for you! I had a horse that was injured badly. It was suggested that I put him down too. I refused to give up on him, like I refused w other horses I had that were injured or sick... anyway, he got through it (actually, they all did) & went on to become a kids horse... he couldn't be ridden hard, but he could be ridden, even by me, just not as much. He ended up a wonderful companion/beginner's horse for my kid sister. Glad you also decided to save Miller. There ARE other uses for him!

Why are people saying RIP? He didn't die. Which frankly, kind of disgusts me. Who are you to put an animal through that sort of pain in the pretense of "saving" him? That animal was in blatant and agonizing pain walking down that barn aisle. And then he had to suffer CAST sores? Do you really think he understands that all this pain is somehow beneficial to him? Why do people constantly insist on giving animals human emotion?

Okay. say you fall an break you leg an sever a few tendons. your leg was put in a cast but werent given crutches to use. your going to be in alot of pain an eventually you will get cast sores. but once your leg is healed you'll be able to use the leg but you wont be able to jump around like you use to.. does that mean we shoot you with an over dose of drugs an put you to sleep? No. we just find something new you can do even with your limitations! he's still a good horse. no reaon to put him down

Horses are practically humans just in a different form. They can talk, we just don't speak their language. Some people just love the animal too much that they want to give it the benefit of the doubt. you may think they are being cruel but they are showing love. I couldnt put my horse down even if i had to. I would do everything possible and you know what, she eventually came good when she was sick. and I was told i should put her down too.
