Fine interpretation of rippingtons. I've got one of this but I didn't find the code does you are using. Maybe it's a new one? Could you say me where can find it? Thank you in advance. Regards from Spain. Javi.
100 voices..but you can edit it and add more. You can add sound patches by adding external sound modules (ex. motif rack) or simply connecting your EWI to your PC and download sound patches from patchmanmusic(dot)com or other websites.
I've heard you can set the fingering for clarinet, but i don't see the keys from the upper used for the A an Ab, does it actually has it or how do you set it for clarinet?
clarinet is based on boehm system fingering and the EWI is sort of a modification of the boehm system. you'll get used to this product. Just practice..
It is called an EWI, for electronic wind instrument. The fingerings are the same as one would use to play the saxophone. There is also a model that mimics brass fingerings. It can be played with batteries.
I'm really tempted to buy one of these, but I have a couple of questions. Everything says that it is a wind instrument, but what instrument is it? As is - what instruments fingerings are used for it, or can you set it to change fingerings. Also, I am wondering how it is powered. Batteries?
Nice demo. Thanks for posting it. I have a few other questions: what sort of breath support is required? How is the embouchure? What is the fingering scheme? I'm a good recorder player but have never played any other wind or brass instruments. I simply wonder if my recorder technique would be transferable to the EWI4000s or if there would be much of a learning curve involved in learning to play it.
You can set the breath sensitivity to be as light as you need, so the transition from recorder will not be hard from that perspective.
The hardest part is that the keys are touch sensitive, meaning that as SOON as your fingers touch them, the circuit is completed and the note is triggered. The EWI is great at identifying flaws in your technique right away. GET ONE!
Thanks, protocol66. Getting one is very tempting; it would be such fun to play all the great baroque and classical wind and brass concertos on one isntrument.
It really depends on what you're using it for. I use mine porimarily for practice. For that purpose, it sounds great. Also, if you like analog synth sounds you'll like it. Just don't get it expecting it to sounds like a sax - it doesn't (without sound modules). I hook mine up to may laptop and use it with reason to get other sounds. Reason has really good support for wind synths...

do you need a bass amp or a keyboard amp for the 4000s or can you just hook it up to any speaker system?

Does it play it only by a built-in sound source? Do not you use the outside sound source module?

How are the sounds on the EWI? I want one but don't want to spend a bunch of money on MIDIs and stuff.

Sweet! At last, a true demonstration. I WILL be buying one of these this year. Good for adding a full sound to a small band. Thanks!
