I'm a fan of the Wando band, however I think they have been poorly judged this year. There are so many phasing issues, the color guard still has plenty of work to do and there are issues with some of the music. I really think this may be the end of the "Wando reign" at the SC State 5A Competitions. I think that their size is what assists in these mistakes going unnoticed.

I was wondering how yall changed plumes so fast! I remeber we were standing over on the side towards the end of your finals run and I looked away for one second and looked back and was like whoa! They changed to green! But they were just the leave plumes! Lol. But now as I watch the video I see how it is done. Wonderful show XXD

so what if boiling springs played loud and "exciting," they were splatty. wando played dynamically and controlled, as seen in the music scores. wando made grand national finals last year, making them in the top 12 bands in the nation. boiling springs doesn't even have any titles to its name. stop bitching about how you deserved to win, and how you're a "real marching band." wando worked just as hard if not harder than you, so stop acting like a bunch of disgraceful hillbillies with no respect.
Wow. This was an extremely amazing show. That competition came close, but both boiling springs and wando are two incredible bands with tons of talent. But like, really, i loved watching both shows, like i couldnt even find any mistakes, cause i like love trees and stuff and i like all the pretty colors in the springs band and it was so good and stuff and my great aunt flo even loved it even though she wasnt there and all and i just realy had fun watching all the bands at irmo so yea i was amazed
This show was amazing.The pictures that you make were difficult to make and it looks so perfect.Also the soloists were great and phrasing was perfect. I think all the bands at state did great and congratulations Wando for your 6th straight win :)
you guys show is great! i loved the season plume thing you did it must have taken a lot of hard work and practice to make it so wonderful. seeing as you guys won it must have all paid off. my favorite part was 4:46-4:59. it was soo beautiful. i am a band fanatic myself and can see that you guys are amazing. lets hope next year you can top that and show south carolina the best performance ever! good job again for coming in first, with there being 8 finalists most people dont expect to get top 5.
I'm a Boiling Springs Alumni and i can honestly say that not all of us share such bad feelings about Wando. You guys did a really good show i was very impressed with your soloist. And i would like to apologize for some of the more negative things said about wando i dont want that sort of impression of my kids going around we're not all like that. Hey, im from Waccamaw Band and I was at 5a state. Honestly its marching band and it shouldnt get to this point where you bad talk other bands. Wando works just as hard, if not harder than you guys. Its really not cool when people boo wando for winning state. wando's scores were A LOT higher than BS. If your upset about getting second, then work harder next year. Wando has great musicians. They had 70 people make all state this year. Boiling springs only had one person make ALTERNATE. be nice

I really enjoyed both Wando and Boiling Spring's shows. I just want to say one thing- for all those claiming that Wando won because their director picks the judges- I am pretty sure he did not pick the judges in the Atlanta super regional two weeks ago and Boiling Springs did not score higher than Wando in that competition. The gap between the scores of the the two bands was even closer this weekend in Irmo.
Marching Band -an ensemble of musicians that march in time to the music at events consisting of brass, wind, drum majors, and color guard. Thats all it is. Participation in the activity is fun, meant to have fun and entertain. We all enjoy what we do, because it is fun. Competition shouldn't matter. Only striving to be your best to see just how much can you bring to the activity. It's just marching band.
After reading the comments to this, I am terribly disappointed. Seriously, Wando got first and BS got second. Arguing on YouTube won't change that, no matter how much you think your show was better than theirs. I thought both shows were awesome personally, but none of us are judges so it isn't our decision to make.
If you win, win with honor and respect your competitors because they were also quite good. If you lose, take it like a man and work harder to win next year.
I'm disappointed in all of y'all. Yes Wando won but get over it...BS your show was amazing but so was Wando's! I'm just really glad that we finally have competition and that South Carolina is becoming a state where the marching bands are great! someone told me that they heard wando fans say "i hope we can get past boiling springs this year." b.springs should've won. wando is good at marching. they are good at playing but they cant do both at the same time. b.springs can.
If I am correct, didn't Wando beat Boiling Springs in TWO competitions? BOA and state? If that is true, then Wando winning has nothing to do with Scott Rush being the president of SCBDA. Their winning is the result of hard work, which was recognized by TWO panels of judges, not just one. Both schools have fantastic band programs, and I, personally, am proud to live in a state with more than one high achieving band program. We just all need to be good sports and take the results as they are.
lets just drop it, what we say on this video will not change the judges opinions, we still have next year to avange this years seniors so lets just try to get along for now

@TheBOOGYMAN234 You come in here and make claims that are as false as they are incendiary and then you trash the band that won State. I'm sorry but that just shows a complete lack of class.
As a wando alumnus I know that nobody in our band would ever say what some of you BSHS people are saying in these comments, and if they did there would be severe consequences (from band directors AND peers) because that kind of behavior reflects very poorly on your organization. Have some respect.

I thought you guys had a really good show, but thanks to the actions of some of your members on this video I cannot respect what you guys do. I really enjoyed both Wando and Boiling Spring's shows. I just want to say one thing- for all those claiming that Wando won because their director picks the judges- I am pretty sure he did not pick the judges in the Atlanta super regional two weeks ago and Boiling Springs did not score higher than Wando in that competition. The gap between the scores of the the two bands was even closer this weekend in Irmo.
I really enjoyed all of the performances!

Marching Band -an ensemble of musicians that march in time to the music at events consisting of brass, wind, drum majors, and color guard. Thats all it is. Participation in the activity is fun, meant to have fun and entertain. We all enjoy what we do, because it is fun. Competition shouldn't matter. Only striving to be your best to see just how much can you bring to the activity. It's just marching band.
Congratulations to Wando 6th St.Cpn.
Also the best luck to Boiling Springs at Gnd.Nts.

After reading the comments to this, I am terribly disappointed. Seriously, Wando got first and BS got second. Arguing on YouTube won't change that, no matter how much you think your show was better than theirs. I thought both shows were awesome personally, but none of us are judges so it isn't our decision to make.
If you win, win with honor and respect your competitors because they were also quite good. If you lose, take it like a man and work harder to win next year.

I'm disappointed in all of y'all. Yes Wando won but get over it...BS your show was amazing but so was Wando's! I'm just really glad that we finally have competition and that South Carolina is becoming a state where the marching bands are great! Congrats Wando on your 6th straight year y'all make me happy to be an alumni! I wish I could've been on the field with y'all again this year but you gotta move on sometime. I want to wish BS good luck at Grand Nats! Make us Proud! I'll be Watching!

I'm neutral (not really, I was pulling for Lexington)
I thought both programs were great. The soloist for Wando is very gifted.
I thought Boiling Springs should have won it this year from a pure "fan" point of view.
Both schools are very lucky to have band programs of this caliber.
Go Cat Band. Perhaps 2011 Lexington will place.

Both shows were amazing. Thats what matters, in the end. The fact that a summer, and fall of hard work was shown in musican ship, and drill.

If I am correct, didn't Wando beat Boiling Springs in TWO competitions? BOA and state? If that is true, then Wando winning has nothing to do with Scott Rush being the president of SCBDA. Their winning is the result of hard work, which was recognized by TWO panels of judges, not just one. Both schools have fantastic band programs, and I, personally, am proud to live in a state with more than one high achieving band program. We just all need to be good sports and take the results as they are.
