That's awesome that he performs with a cold. I got Coldplay tickets for a Birmingham, AL show around two years ago for my birthday, and Chris Martin refused to play cause he caught a cold.
This show was in Australia and we Aussies have only been blessed with Dave's presence in our country 2 OR 3 times...... EVER!!!!! So unlike all you privileged Americans who have the opportunity to go to his concerts 5 or 6 times A YEAR, it WOULD have been a surprise to this audience for him to come out and introduce the opening act!!
Yea he does. he's very gracious towards the people opening for him. Just a sign of his personality. He's cool as hell man. "got a bit of a cold" He's ALWAYS got something wrong with his voice. But he's always willing to scream his lungs out to have a good time. LOVE this man.

stop saying that it is not a surprise. I was THERE, and it was surprising as hell !! We dont get graced with tours of DMB in Australia very often... so we are not used to him introducing the opening act...

Not a surprise when he does it at EVERY CONCERT.
I have seen 12 DMB shows, he ALWAYS introduces the opening act himself. I'd be more surprised if the opener came out without Dave coming out first.
