Thanks for the great Kay Kyster post (Woody Woodpecker song). I wonder if that's Kay Kyser himself doing Woody . . . Enjoyed this a lot! Steve in Chicago
To all you Solon Comets alumni, Michigan Wolverines fans, Miami Dolphins & Pittsburgh Steelers fans: This was the #1 song in the USA when Jim Mandich came into the world (July 30, 1948). The start of the Rock Era was 7 years away (July 9, 1955).
What a difference a correct needle makes!! This is what they are supposed to sound like...good needle and proper equalizer setting. Some on here are so scratchy sounding and people think they sound like that, but they never did...even in 1937, would you buy something that sounded like crap and pay good money for it?..no. Great Job!!
@dzzzy98 Actually, the sound is coming from the Hyperphonic which is RIAA. It's sitting in the bathroom doorway which de-emphesises the mid bass somewhat.
@dzzzy98 I used to play these on a floor model Console Record player, and the bass would make the floor Vibrate and it sounded and felt as if you were next to the Orchestra Pit at a show . ;-)
Nice dong, but that song was not featured in the video game "Woody Woodpecker in Crazy Castle 5". James reviewed that and all other games on this episode of the AVGN entitled "Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle". If you haven't seen it, go watch it! This episode is funny!
#1 on my birthday, 7/20/1948
