my dad had one of these growing up .. in fact it was my grandfathers first and then my pops .. car went and went and went 300, thousand miles later .. my dad finally got rid of it .. one of the best cars he ever owned .. I became a ford guy watching him and his ford products growing up .. Crown Vic, 2 f150s , mercury zepher , 78 ford mustang,
hola! acabo de comprar un ford zephyr mod. 80, habra un sitio especial para este tipo de autos, quisiera ver accesorios y colores para poder remodelar el mio, gracias
I'm surprised Mercury lasted as long as it did as a brand. If these were supposed to compete with Buicks, there was no competition. "Wouldn't you rather have a Buick?"
@BigSCTVfan2 It really depends on the paticular car. Mercury had more variables in quality due to what they were as a brand. GM has more brands then Ford, for the most part buick was generaly one step under Cadillac, and above the other intermediat brands. Mercury was fords only long running mid-range brand, some being nearly equal to Lincolns, others being no higher then a base line Ford. All depends on the individual car. I love em both!
so funny how it went from being a Lincoln for so many years back in the thirty's and forty's to a compact Mercury in the late 70's early 80's and then back to Lincoln in the mid 2000's
I drove a 78 Zephyr for a while when I was in high school. It was a total creampuff car too, white 2 door with white interior and a kickass 8 track stereo system. I loved that car - but my parents got in an accident in it and it was totaled (parents were okay tho, they were wearing seatbelts!)
My grandmother used to have a red 1980 2-door EXACTLY like the one at 0:22!!!!! The thing was a friggin' taxi in terms of equipment, but the 200-CID Six REALLY HAD SOME BALLS!!!!

Great bargain, prefer the Mercury badging anyway. At least the illusion of a little more class. :-)

I was going to buy a Rolls Royce, but I went with Mercury since it was roomier.
