Thanks for your comments, and as a big Chaparral fan, I want to clarify a few points. The Chaparrals didn't dominate the Can-Am, but did dominate the USRRC in 1964 and 1965. In the first year of the Can-Am, 1966, the Chaparral did win its one and only race at Laguna Seca. The series went on to be dominated by McLarens and Porsches. However, the Chaparrals were pioneers in aerodynamics. The last Chaparral Can-Am car, the 2J (fan car) in 1970, was banned. Jim Hall then quit the Can-Am in disgust.
These cars driven by Jim Hall (66) and Hap Sharp (65) totally dominated Can-Am in the 60's. They had "black box" automatic transmissions and back door Chevy engines. The coupe bodies where made for LeMans but did not fare as well. The 2F was banned but all these put ground effects on the map.
Super Cool! ..... Thank you. Also a huge Chaparral fan. Especialy the Can Am cars, 2F 2G and 2J
