I think this is a good idea. I mean, stop demanding welfare from the US Government, grow your own food and take care of yourselves. I have family out there and they laugh that they don't work, go to the beach all day and get welfare and government housing. If you want to be self-sufficient living the "Pono" style, then go back to grass huts, palm leave clothing, no electricity, no cars, no education, no mom-and-pop shops and do your own thing. Pono = No Welfare.
the devastations portrayed in this video, occurs alsoin panama. the culprits are the same as in molokai.since december, our water not only polluted, it is also rationed in panama city. they tell us that these temporary measures were taken because the rains caused land-slides that clogged the pumping station´s filters.not because defprrestation and mining, but because we have too much rain! tankz 4 sharing & teaching us! c king "pax tecum"
Aloha Matt. I'm moving Back to Moloka'i and i'd like to join the cause. Hopefully i'll see ya around. Kimo is my name, Spreading the word about Health and Fitness is my game. Some of the things you talked about in the video are new to me. And i wanna learn more. Starting with Learning the Language of my Native Land. C ya around.
ive been to molokai and its anything but prominent, the educational standards as well as the overall productivity of most inhabitants are ridiculous. the only abundance that is there is studpidity and DRUGS
more power to you all, and may the new years to come bring much better results. molokai will live on forever in all of our hearts. much can be learn here about what we have lost and what should be important to us. peace and mahalo.
the term used is "self-governance." it does not necessarily mean that we create a sovereign government, but that our community have direct influence or final say in how our island and its resources are managed. there's many ways and degrees by which this can be achieved, some of which already exists. most frustrating for molokai is that the seat of county and state government are on other islands. our small population warrants us very little representation even in our own affairs. aloha.
I love the fact that the people of Mokokai wants to preserve their island. I do not understand about "independant Government". If this happened how could the island protect itself from intruding countries that want to take over and claim? Do they have their own securty that would help them with air and land attacks should they occur? I know as of now the Hawaiian Islands are protected by the USA. I think we all remember the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
Which was provoked by the US Government, it wouldn't have been attacked if the US Military didn't establish a base there, this also happened before Hawaii was even a US State, Hawaii was invaded by us. The civilization of Hawaii was doing just fine before it was westernized. What is considered progress by society isn't necessarily progress for everyone. Our environment has diminished as a result of "progress". The rest of the US could take an example from the practices of simplicity.
The attack on Pearl Harbor may have been provoked and directed at the US military on the islands. But even if the US had no connection with Hawaii Japan would have wanted a base there during the war. And given the way things went down I would assume they would use force if needed. I love Hawaii and everything it stands for, I am sorry they way of the world is effecting the islands but it is happening everywhere. I hope Molokai can stay "country" and keep their way of life as is.
Te ataahua kotou. Just beautiful. Great to have at centre of thinking, dreaming, continuing choosing to go past all challenges with all that is pono. This is truly a Spiritual smile of eternity coming through all that is ... Moloka'i momona aina - feed and nourish the world with more of this please.
Mahalo Matt. Friends on Moloka'i passed this on as a gift, and I will pass it on to a few close friends and family. I've long thought of Moloka'i as "the honest island" - your video depicts, eloquently and better than I could ever say, the pono which remains like nowhere else in Hawai'i today. Mahalo nui!
Mahalo for this message of hope. There is more good news today than ever before. What a wonderful time of restoration and renewal. God bless the people of Molokai. God bless Hawaii.
Thanks for this video. Great narration great message awesome video. Thanks for keeping it real and for your efforts. I watched it with some friends and family everyone was taken away by your talent. They were also inspired and at the same time saddened with the reality that they live in a concrete jungle.
Well done Matt. Inspiring video. Alot of work to be done. I have no doubt something far better will be created with people such as yourself involved. Look forward to visiting again soon.
Aloha Matt! GREAT JOB! An inspiring piece offering solutions and answers instead of contradictions and negative connotations. Full of heart and wisdom. Thanx for sharing.

EXACTLY!!! Most Hawaiians aren't trying to dominate other races with sovereignty, many just want a more "Hawaiian" say over NATURAL RESOURCES.
