@SageVallant Why was FF9 a step down the slope? After have two games that limited the number of party memebers, were set in modern/futuristic worlds and were considerably darker than the previous installments FF9's cast actually had classes unlike those of FF7, and didn't have the confusing draw system of FF8. Out of all the 3D installments FF9 is the only one thats actually like the old games.
@Khrene I can't point to anything particular and say "this sucked", possibly because I haven't played the game for years. Overall it just wasn't particularly memorable. I hated Kuja as a villain. The characters were mildly entertaining at best. The whole experience was predictable.

That! is Ozma, The orb of death, The dweling terror, The bringer of an INSANE BOS BATTLE! I can't remember lasting 5 minutes with that horrible undead eidolon! Ozma is by far the hardest boss in Final Fantasy IX. Also it's a sub boss, guess that's why you never heard of it.

@apapalonglong what levels are everyone else? And before you fight Ozma, optimize your equipment, cus that equips the best equipment. And have Amarant have the sub-ability thing Return Magic on, that helps a bunch. Have Zidane attack, Steiner attack, and dagger use Curaga. Have Steiner and Zidane close to trance too. If that doesnt work, all i can say is just keep trying
dunno... yeah, he has return magic. I was new with ffix when i started playing it. sold some of he best equipment because i wanted money. back then i only ezcaped from the gimme cats... now i'm playing ffvii but when i beat the weapons there, its back to ffix cuz it's the best.
nah, tactics to GBA was weak, so I didn't bother buying the ps1 version. I did beat ultima to FFVII, a feew days ago though. Talk about taking forever finding him if he flies out of screen!

I defeated ozma! pretty easy with the right equipment: absorb shadow on Zidane and Steiner, Sarah (daggers real name) had protection against shadow and vivi had 50% in shadow damage. after that it was this simple:

Search the area. You will find a ? above your head. The moogle then warns you that he has a bad feeling. In fighting Ozma, equip gear that resist or absorbs dark attacks. You can only hit him with range attacks. In order to melee him, you need to find the 9 ghost and give them each what they want. I don't remember the locations of all the ghost. This you will have to search yourself.
However, you roam around the Chocobo Air Garden with your Golden Chocobo until you find a shining green rock/spot in the wall. The moogle will tell you not to mess with it. This is a good opportunity it change party members and go into your menu to ensure you have the right people, equipment, spells, abilities, etc. Then, examine it again and it starts the battle.

I believe that Ozma is an Eidolon that perhaps the Summoning Tribe sealed in the Chocobo Air Garden because of its power, judging simply from the fact that you need to inspect the eidolon grave to fight Ozma. I could be way off-base, however.
this boss is so fucken tricky... you got to find all those little creatures before you can even physically attack that round bastard, i heard you could use quinas frog attack after she ate enough frogs to always do 9999 damage, or they was that strategy to drain all its MP so it couldnt do anything, but i always had trouble with the status ailments.
I didn't even know Quina was a girl... I always regarded Quina as an 'it' < _ < I mean, he/she doesn't really have any defining features that would lead us to believe it's male or female < _ < I love her/him anyways though xD Blue Magic ftw~
Oh and btw, if you want another strategy, one way to go at it [after all the necessary arrangements are made] is to have everyone equipped with Shadow absorbing armor and Return Magic. If Ozma starts with Doomsday, it's doomed ^__^
I know! I had no clue what the fuck Ozma was. I would play through the game again and do everything because I loved it so damn much but sadly it and my PS2 have been replaced by my 360.

I never really understood what was Ozma's purpose. He/she's not human looking, he/she's random and never talk. He dosen't even have a story line whatsoever.
Actually, there is some sort of story behind Ozma.
Summons live because of legends about them. When a culture dies, their legends die, and so do their summons. Ozma is a collection of all the dead summons togeter in the "eidolon grave" you find in the air garden. So, that's why it's so strong: It is composed of all dead/disappeared summons together.
FFX is personally one of my favorites, but yes everyone has there own opinion. just because don't like it doesn't mean i'll change my opinion. its all personal tastes tht's all. not everyone has the same tastes. we all look for different things.

this is an optional boss, you encounter him in the chocobo garden in the sky which you need a gold chocobo to access.
I never beat him so I don't know what the reward is for killing him, I think finding all the friendly creatures weakens him? I never found the last one :(

you get a pumice, not a pumice piece, which allows you to summon ark, and key item 'strategy guide' which i don't think does anything

lol, I just spammed Ark on him, but it took forever, because the Ark summon attack has a video clip equivalent to that of a short movie, lol.

Actually, there is some sort of story behind Ozma.
Summons live because of legends about them. When a culture dies, their legends die, and so do their summons. Ozma is a collection of all the dead summons togeter in the "eidolon grave" you find in the air garden. So, that's why it's so strong: It is composed of all dead/disappeared summons together.
