And yes I know some dancers made comments about her weight , i know that is not a rumor I mean you don't know who said it. It was something like, 'she should know better than to let her body get out of shape because she's a role model for women and seeing her gain weight might influence other women. And being a professional dancer, she shouldn't gain weight because its too much on her joints.' Or some other CRAP like that.

@shsblsd Oddly enough, I'm not sure I'd believe Maks as saying it. Louis, yes. He seems like he can be catty and critical. And Maks is no angel, to be sure! But Maks and Cheryl are really good friends...I don't see him saying that about her and them remaining as buddy-buddy as they are. She NEVER dances with Louis anymore, though...which is makes sense...if he dogged her like that, no wonder she won't partner with him! And you never see them out and about together like she and Maks. I dunno...

The only reason she gained a couple pounds was because she was rehearsing the 8 hours a day like she is during the show! Every woman I know, would DIE to look anything like Cheryl Burke. Even in the off season! I guess its that 'Male Eastern European' idea of what a beautiful body is. They just want every woman to look like Karina or Edyta. Hey Maks and Louis! We not everyone is supposed to look like a crack head!

@dynastychick3 There are two things I love about Louis. His dancing is natural - little of the affectation that we see in Latin Dance Competitors (or ballroom dancers in general). Neither fey nor macho, just good solid moves. His talent *is* his sex appeal.

The second thing I love is the fact that he is willing to take risks on the dance floor - you can tell that he is actually LISTENING to the music when he choreographs.

I am missing the point where this music and dance is related to Samba. In my opinion, nothing in this presentation is. Copacabana in the song is not talking about a place in Brazil and the dance style and chroreography has absolutely nothing related to original samba dance. I love the music and dancers, but I can't get the connection they try to make. Anyone any ideas?

Original Brazilian Samba and Ballroom Samba are completely different. The Ballroom Samba is the modified version of the original Brazilian Samba used in competition, so therefore it is much more different.

Copacabana itself just has the counts needed to create a ballroom samba. Brazilian Samba on the other hand is Brazil's social dance used for Carnaval, celebrations, and large ceremonies. Basically, while Ballroom Samba and Brazilian Samba are completely different from each other, one doesn't overshadow another as they are both beautiful dances but are used differently and for different purposes.

Cheryl and Louis are dancing a MODIFIED samba. That is what professionals do. This is DWTS, not some Samba club in Brazil =)
