Under the Ottoman Empire it was Turkish. That's until they went into WW1 with the Central Powers and Britain annexed the Island from them and made it a British colony. Cyprus gained Independence in 1960.

Under the Ottoman Empire it was Turkish. That's until they went into WW1 with the Central Powers and Britain annexed the Island from them and made it a British colony. Cyprus gained Independence in 1960.
