Also I think why the heavy railgun wasn't incorporated into the 304s were 1) railguns are practically useless against shielded ships and the sgc didn't think they would encounter enemy ships with armour rather than shields(wraith), (2) the main armament in the 304s were the missiles which the sgc figured would not encounter problems like darts intercepting them before impact.

It looks like the prometheus destroyed that alkesh with some sort of heavy railgun. The words "main railguns" come up several times so the weapon is probably a railgun or some other projectile weapon

Also, at 4:00, Promethius owned with energy weapon - didn't realise they had something like that before. Was it just another Goa'uld piece they strapped onto the ship? A shame it wasn't also incorporated into the 304's design to compliment their complete reliance on railguns (so painfully evident in the first few seasons of SG:A / last seasons of SG-1 until they finally reached "Unending").

We know the Goa'uld stole technology, but they never explain, or even hint for that matter, who they stole their ships from in the first place. they only say that the stargate (also known as the Chapa eye), and sarcophogas is stolen from the Lantians (Ancients) after they has all dies and/or ascended. sorry about my bad spelling

The Goa'uld were scavengers. Most of their tech was either crudely reversed engineered from Ancient technology or stolen from other races. That and the Goa'uld weren't very innovative. Their idea of innovation was to build bigger and more powerful ships or to add captured tech to their ships. It wasn't really until Anubis came on the scene that they started to come up with improvements to their technology.

Humans on the other hand are always finding ways to improve and make new things. That coupled with getting assistance from the Asgard, who were more advanced than the Goa'uld, allows them to overcome the Goa'uld's initial technological advantage.

There is a difference between science fiction and science reality. F-22 where not deployed for 2 reasons. 1: The X-2's used in Stargate are fictional and are made with Gua'uld technology as a part of their construction. 2: The F-22 was still in development when this episode aired. The writers had no idea they existed; therefore, they could not incorporate them into the story.

In science reality I would agree. Keep in mind that by this time in the series, it had already been established that standard Earth aerospace technology was ineffective against the Gua'uld. In the episode that the opening sequence of the vid was showing, the US had already lost numerous carrier fleets. The Promethiuos and it's squadron of X-2's where the only vehicles made on Earth(using alien tech) capable of fighting the Gua'uld. "Suspension of Disbelief". It is what sci-fi thrives upon. :P

Much cooler just to see head to head battles. Also gliders may have some sort of electronic jamming that prevent locking on from far away
