This is a great song, it's a comparison between rats and humans. Being a rat lover (and keeper) myself I much appreciate the lyrics of this song because they are SO true, it really makes you think 'who's actualy vermin here'.
@luiscurtolo I think Matt is the best drummer PJ ever had. I don't like Dave too much, just cymbals-hitting and almost nothing more. But I know there are people that disagree with this opinion.
@camilooliveira87 thats sad like, I used to have that same opnion, but then I digged up more. Dave is so much more than cymbals. He was all about grooving, feeling, creativity. So much creativity. Matt is a great rock drummer. But dave all around, is far more complete and diverse. PJ was built on that funky feeling, and matt lacks on it. People just close their mind and build prejudist on the fact that he was fired. Matt is aewsome, on SG. Give dave a second chance on ur more attentive ears. bye
@luiscurtolo ok, good points, Luis. I agree he is great at grooving. With matt, the songs became a little 'faster'. Even Flow maybe is the song when it's most perceptible. But i think Matt uses the whole drum better, combining sounds from snare, tons, floor-tons and bass drum. I don't know if it's the correct term in english, but Matt is a way better at drum-loops, and this is what I miss in Dave. His loops seems too simple. I really don't care about the fact he was fired.
@camilooliveira87 hum, I see, but two things there. Mostly on taste like. I dislike so much the up tempo songs. Like, why rush imortality? Why rush even flow? RearviewMirrow is understandable, but when u rush u either loose the groove or u loose the feel and become like a simple rock song. but is taste.. why rush even flow, is the homeless guy running on the streets haha?
@camilooliveira87 loops you mean fills? cuz, matt do some crazy fills, but i dont like where he puts it. I just think he over do the fills that just dont match with the music. but thats me. I think hes amazing but, on SG and todays PJ, cuz I can only compare stuff that both had played u know?
And something about dave too.. is the right foot. no one in that era had such a fast right foot. amazing. looks bonham on late 70s. for real. but its all about taste. try this one: /watch?v=SgmK1zpve_s
Killer rat? I never heard that. There is an MJ song I think it's called Ben. Anyway, he sings the same line "Ben the two of us need look no more". If you watch the story of his life, he had a mouse or rat that he kept as a pet. He named it Ben. I think his screwy dad ended up killing the thing. No wonder he was so mental.
The band Pearl Jam makes a reference to the song "Ben" on their 1993 album Vs. on the song "Rats", with the line "Ben, the two of us need look no more" repeated several times at the end the track.
"Ben" is a number-one hit song written by Don Black and Walter Scharf and recorded by Michael Jackson for the Motown label in 1972. Originally written for Donny Osmond, "Ben" was offered to Jackson as Osmond was on tour at the time and unavailable for recording. The single, theme of a 1972 film of the same name (the sequel to the 1971 killer rat movie Willard), spent one week at the top of the U.S. pop chart
the lyric SayingNo is refering to is the first lyric in the Jackson 5 song "Ben" which from what i heard is about his pet rat...so it has a lot to do with MJ...not the song but the lyric...so let SayingNo pay his/her homage
Jesus! why has everything in the world has to be about michael jackosn leave the guy rest, and move on people, and by the way listen to the intro eddie gives on this song
you're absolutely clueless, dude. "Ben, the two of us need look no more" is the last line of this song, AS WELL AS the first line of Michael Jackson's first solo hit (NOT with the J5) called "Ben," a song he wrote about his connection with his pet rat, named BEN.
YES, the song has a connection to Michael Jackson. Just because you weren't aware of it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Dumbass.
Damn you're good man, next time try to use all that perception powers to solve JFK's murder instead of wasting it here with all of us who post stupid comments just for fun, (In case you haven't figured it out i'm tryin to be sarcastic dumb f*c*k)
I'm a dumbfuck? Who's the one here who was adamant that the song had nothing to do with Michael Jackson? If you weren't such a condescending dick to the people RIPing MJ, it wouldn't come to people calling out your lack of pretty basic PJ knowledge.
ben was a song recorded by pearl jam and michael jackson in the 70's which is why he mentioned it in the song and pearl jam came up with it first and michael jackson copied them so pj sued him.
porq cameron no taca asi las demas canciones q no son de binoural, riot act y pj? me explico q esta le suena muy bien y es vs, deberia pegarle asi a todas, solo eso pido
Easy there. If I knew you were not from the US,I would not have said anything about your English.I was just trying to figure out what you were saying.I agree Dave Abbruzzese was Pearl Jam's best drummer.Though he was the bands 3rd drummer.Rock On.
'Ben, the two of us need look no more'... Who is that Ben...? This line can also be found in the #1 single "Ben" by Michael Jackson, from the film of the same name... Is Eddie Vedder referring to Ben harper, maybe Ben shepherd...?
Oh yeah this one floored me the first time i heard it in the nineties. Still love it.
