Nice groove. I agree that it's a little too fast and gets a bit rushy towards the sax solo.
The original version was written in 100-104 bpm. I don't have it, but I am trying to get one.
I might have it somewhere on audio tape. Could ask the conductor of the old band.
This used to be my favorite tune when I was the bass player of the West Coast Big Band back in 1990.

we have always played it like this version. For me isn't vey fast, but I have never listened the original version.
