I went to FAU in the 90s. It was small back then and no football team but it was fun, with lot of bars in boca back then. During school I had a intership in IBM and then got a job in Siemens. Then I got out of Florida and moved to west coast. I went back last year and the campus has completely changed, its lot bigger but sadly Florida is a dead state, IBM & Siemens both moved to Texas, not sure if there are jobs anymore, unless if you work in medical field and take care of old people.
@ednan9 FAU is still one of the best growing universities here in Florida to major in engineering even though some of those jobs are moving overseas. However, we are set to open the new engineering building which is the first LEED Platinum-Certified building in Florida. Nonetheless, many recent alum have gotten jobs at Motorola, IBM, and the like.

I picked FAU because it's not overly crowded, its in a good area, it has a variety of athletics, its academics are good enough, it has a variety of tools and resources to get your degree and there are a lot of job opportunities in south Florida. To me its good enough and to the average person it's a satisfying enough college. Plus the beach is 5 minutes away lol except for USF none of those schools have a nearby beach.
Well yea SquishyCandy that is true that FAU has not been part of the Tier 1 universities in Florida for a while but I think that it has a lot that is attractive to people. Boca Raton is safer than Orlando, Tampa, Gainesville and Tallahassee. FAU is also the only mid-sized college in Florida that is public. If more people looked at FAU for what it actually has and is instead of what it should have, im sure more people would pick it as their first choice.
And finally I have to say, at least this school falls somewhere in the college sports world. The school I came from was D-2 and nobody cared about athletics and alot less people were on campus and the campus was less social as a whole. Athletics give a reason for people to come together and are an easy thing that binds a university and gives it pride and things to enjoy. Plus why the hell would you not want football? The Tailgating and parties are alot of fun!

In Florida it is known that FAU is a back up school to those who want to attend UF, FSU, UCF, USF, etc, that is why it has a bad rep. However, with the recent construction, adding more students, more exposure, FOOTBALL, this school will be the school everyone would like to attend instead of having it be "the back up". They have also raised their academic standards.
Also I dont see how you think that communications, Psychology, and Poli Sci are BS degrees. Try majoring in something like History or Philosophy which are just make your mind retarded. W/e you major in as long as your going to be good at it and your able to find a job for it and do good at it, then it doesnt matter what happened at FAU other than your experience and the tools given to you to learn which it defiantly HAS.

There are lots of students at FAU that care about academics but college is NOT all about academics. All your there for is a degree and an education along the way and its not hard to get an education at FAU. Most of the extra curriculums teach you more than the classroom 90% of the time.
Why does this video not visit any of the research labs at FAU? Wouldn't it be important to introduce students to opportunities they may have to expand their understanding of the fields they may be studying beyond the standard curriculum? It's almost as if FAU students don't care about academics. Oh wait- they don't. Can't cut into the time you spend talking about Starbucks, can you?

Im pretty excited about going to FAU. Just knowing we have football makes me excited. I transfered from a really small university and FAU is alot nicer. FAU has a nice mid-sized population and offers all the basic things you need at a university. Its pretty exciting to know the Baseball program is pretty good and that FAU has it's own ways of being a great university. Every university puts it spending in different areas and you dont need to go to a big college to have a good time. Go Owls!

Yes Broward/Davie campus has a small cafeteria with TVs and places to study. Jupiter campus has a great downtown type atmosphere with their traditions plaza and the Ft Lauderdale campus is close to Las Olas and other retail locations.
I'll be attending in the fall this year and can't wait, but zacharie is right, it needs more excitement and I hope the stadium opening this year (hopefully) adds more to it. the school spirit is fine but it just needs more pride like FSU, UCF, and UF.
@zacharie101 "Having more excitement" is not what separates this dump from a real university. It's FAU's focus on preparing students for low-level job positions over a focus on actually understanding or being able to contribute to the fields being studied, students who care about building more parking garages than expanding research opportunities, and general low academic standards that makes having a degree from FAU more of an embarrassment then an accomplishment.

@tff1293 I go to FAU. It's a great school. It just needs more time I believe to compete with the top Florida schools like UF and FSU.
FAU is a young university compared to UF and FSU but it'll get there eventually, especially with the stadium being built and opening this year.
I like it here. It's really hot in Boca Raton though lol. Also the beach is like 15 minutes away!

I went to FAU in the 90s. It was small back then and no football team but it was fun, with lot of bars in boca back then. During school I had a intership in IBM and then got a job in Siemens.
