i put my template on my sides and mark the bracing. then i notch it to fit my bracing. after gluing the braces on the back i match everything up and fine tune it with a file and small chisel. works for me. just another way for you guys to do the notching, which i hate doing. its one of the most tedious steps but....
where'd you get the rubber. i've checked my local hardware stores and nothing. I use 100ft of rope now but i think the rubber would have much better grip
Waiting on part 9 now, the completion :-)This is currently the best series on guitar building on YouTube!
One question. When you fit the back, would it be better to cut the back seam graft to fit opposite than the way you do for aesthetic reasons? Meaning instead of fitting the back starting at the tail block and cutting the graft to fit at the neck block, do it the opposite way. It seems you would end up with a better looking joint where it is most visible. Am I missing something here?
Hmm... I never actually thought of it that way. It's a good point. The fit of the graft against the neck block usually comes out ok, but it would be safer to do it neck end first. I can't think of any down sides. Thanks for the comment.
boy you guys are demanding ;-). It's just taking me awhile to put it all together. I shot this video a few years ago and some of the pieces are hard to find. I'm getting there.

Good to see Watson. He looks like he might be a Standard Schnauzer? BTW, great videos! Thanks.
