I love this! I'm just learning (at 51 yet) to play punk guitar, and this is the first song I want to learn. Cheetah still rocks. I'm even getting a copy of that same guitar he's playing (it's a real Les Paul, just made in Korea with a different name on head stock). This is one of my all time favorite punk classics. Right up there with "Blank Generation" and "Anarchy in the U.K." in my opinion.

If you're in the market for one I would definitely recommend Gibson's JJ signature melody maker with the burst bucker pickup and kill switch...it's got tons of crunch and can handle some old school glam rock and punk really well...and no, i am in no way affiliated with gibson, i just love old school melody makers.
I think the melody maker is lighter and is more unique. However, the LP has more than one pickup which gives you a bit more versatility. You can also customize the color of the LP whereas the JJ melody maker comes in white and black only. Both are great guitars though...If you play mainly rhythm go with the melody maker, but if you play lead and rhythm then go with the lp...i've heard the neck of the melody maker isn't conducive to shredding.

The Hofner Colorama is their version of a Gibson Melody Maker. CC was definitely using a Melody Maker, however, as you can see 'Melody Maker' written on the scratchplate next to the next pickup. Hofner guitars ARE great but would have been really hard to come by in Ohio/NYC in the 70s. Whereas Gibson's Kalamazoo, Michigan factory was merely a few hour drive from CC's home-town.
If it had not been for Gibson, there would not have been any Dead Boys, hence no Cheetah Chrome, hence no punk rock. So fuck off with all this talk about selling out. The Dead Boys were one of the best punk rock bands of all time!
Cheetah is still a fucking badass. He plays shows around New York, from what I've heard.

i did sound for the dead boys a few times....when they were finished with their fake punk stuff,they started putting on eyeliner and though they were the new resurrection of the new york glam scene.... bunch of fakes..now that everyone else is dead..they talk to this guy!...cheetah is a cool guy.but they make him look like a star....out of all of those guys he was the one with the songs...the others were awful...god awful...they had 2 good songs,first record is good,second sucks totally,,

The Hofner Colorama is their version of a Gibson Melody Maker. CC was definitely using a Melody Maker, however, as you can see 'Melody Maker' written on the scratchplate next to the next pickup. Hofner guitars ARE great but would have been really hard to come by in Ohio/NYC in the 70s. Whereas Gibson's Kalamazoo, Michigan factory was merely a few hour drive from CC's home-town.
