Actually, Mowlana was born in a small village called Vakhsh (see Rumi by Franklin Lewis), he is referred to as Mowlana Jalaleddin Balkhi because Balkh was the closest big town near where he was born. He is buried in Konya in Turkey (the reason why Turks believe he should be considered a Turk, doesn't really make any sense of course).

@TheGood1111 Actually "Mowla" means Friend, also Master ( as Professor) . The added "Na" means "our" Mowla. Farsi "Pir" is 'Sheikh" in Arabic. I think Master (as lord) also means Rabb.
Mowlana Jalaleddin was from Balkh, and died in Turkey ( don't know where exactly) . He was a master in his field hence he was called "Mowlana". Mevlana is kinda a dialect changed of it, but it's not a word in Arabic.

@andredoran Mowlana has a meaning in farsi ( actually it's arabic) but what does mevlana mean? please don't say that's his name.
KafshakTashtak 8 months ago
@KafshakTashtak all means same, just transcript is different, like Pekin und Beijing is the same thing transcripted different
andredoran 8 months ago
@KafshakTashtak Mowlana or Mevlana has the same meaning as Pir, master, etc. it's a great title given to Sufi masters and applies to any Sufi order.

@amirstarusa So, where ever you die, that's what people will recognize you to be from? say if I die in US, am I considered as an american?
KafshakTashtak 4 months ago
@KafshakTashtak
i didnt say that , mowlana is from iran , but turkish people say that he is from turkey or even afganian...
but if you read history , you find it that he is from iran , 100 percent
amirstarusa 4 months ago
@amirstarusa Exactly That's my point. and that's the reason I'm trying to tell people not to call him Mevlana.

Like the rays of the Sun , the lives of the Pure
From those heights to the lowly valley they arrive
Green and fresh the garden for the pure
With new fruits from the love drunk they arrive
Their essence is grace and grace they unfold and expand
From the garden towards the garden they arrive
Little by little, the group of the love drunk arrive
Little by little, the worshipers of wine arrive

They are on their way; Comforting and gentle
Like flowers from the flower field they arrive
Little by little, from this world of Being and non-Being
The non-existent leave and the existent arrive
They come with hands and clothes full of gold
For the poor and hungry they arrive
The gaunt, exhausted from the trials of Love
Strong and healthy they arrive
