  • POOR KURT....IF HE HAD STAYED WITH HER AND JUST WOULD NOT HAVE FINISHED...WE MISS YOU KURT COBAIN...A BIG SADNESS FOR US WHEN YOU GONE...RIP 1994...

  • Love her sound. Like her original recording of this song. This video is at least in part a nod to her background as a subway singer.

  • to me l-a-c is a cambridge (harvard square) song. u guys have a video somewhere from the

summer of 91...if m-l-l 4-got a few words try dubbing some haha. and since we never tired of

free adverts, check out some REAL 60's stuff, from china, by 'tedy robins and the playboys'...

  • You're all also forgetting Elliott smith!

  • Nobody can ever forget Elliott.

  • @creepske Never

  • Just think...Mary Lou Cobain. (~_^)

  • ....you're talented and interesting,no comparison with that desperate liar CL.. Go on! write a book about yourself and include those beautiful moments when you met kurt, you'll do his memory and fans A LOT OF GOOD!

  • She doesn't get as recognised as much as she should! When i start making videos I will do a cover of her and i'll make sure people recognise her Awsome Talent

  • I could sit and listen to Mary Lou all night. Would love to see her live.

  • who cares, i love nirvana and i love mary lou

i didnt find out about her b/c of kurt,

my late fathers friend game me a mix with jingl jangle morning on it and now im hooked, so i think her songs stand on their own

  • Does anyone know about the whereabouts of Nick Saloman...? Will a new Bevis Frond Album come out someday?

  • Nick is a legend.I remember Radio 2 playing this to death. He's deffo one of the best British songwriters of all time IMHO.

  • Lovely version of the Frond classic !

  • Such a shame she doesn't make music anymore.

  • Mary Lou still plays live; just not making albums right now.

  • right, but since I live nowhere near where she plays, it's about the same for me :(

  • Yeah I'll take may lou & Juliana Hatfield to go..

  • Ignoring the INSANE shit-Can I ask those in the know if Mary Lou ever had anything to do with Juliana Hatfield (friend, bandmate in Blakes Babies etc....).

I don't know know a lot about either but theres a similarity in sound

(PS-apologies if this question offends fans in either camp)

  • Mary Lou Lord this is a direct message to you. You will go to heaven for doing this!

  • I´m sorry to express my opinion like this for you mary lou lord fans, but she´s such a liar....

Of course she didn´t kill Kurt,I mean how stupid is that?

    SHE DIDN´T EVEN DATE HIM!

  • You need to check out any reputable Nivana bio, flip to the index, and look up LORD, MARY LOU. She doesn't like to talk about it, but she did. Even "Queen of Noise" the Courtney bio, confirms this. Anyway, it's not the point. Her music and playing are what is important.

  • Well, "Queen of Noise" is not even an authorized book, you can check it out

  • Not authorized by Courtney? That's the only Courtney book I'd read.

  • yeah, not by courtney, nor anyone else it is not an official bio, Courtney has published her own diaries.

The author of "Queen of noise" used to hang out with courtney at high school, that´s how she knows about her, however, courtney didn´t authorized her book.

  • So what? Why do think something authorized by Courtney would be the truth? ANY authorized bio is going to have parts of the ugly truth whitewashed out. It is in Court's interest to belittle Mary Lou, but the facts are there, and the witnesses (including Krist, Nirvana's bassist) are there... and the books are there: HEAVIER THAN HEAVEN, NEVER FADE AWAY. But again I must add: Mary Lou herself has never made a big deal publicly about her time with Kurt.

  • Mary Lou is a SWEETIE! Who cares who she dated? Her music is strong enough to stand on its own.

  • maybe, but this song isn´t hers. it´s written by nick saloman aka the bevis frond.

  • Cobain fell for courtney because of a similar messed up background, the similar attraction to addictions, but in truth, that's not what Cobain needed to heal him.

Mary would have been great for Cobain...

  • Uhh let's stick to the topic..Mary Lou's video seems to be here and nothing else right? And it's a great video!

  • weird, haven't seen this video in forever

i think i saw it on 120 minutes a long as time ago

and had a mild interest in the music which faded

the whole kurt cobain relationship thing is news to me...or maybe someone mentioned it to me back then

weird thought i'd never see this video again

  • Cobain married Love instead this nice woman because Cobain was as dumb as Love.

  • To marry someone just because you think as nice. She was dumb and you are an imbecil obviously.

  • Cobain should never have married Courtney Love. She killed him... she's a nightmare. Cobain could've only done better with Mary Lou Lord.

  • She did not kill him. He was a tortured soul.

  • memories!!! I used to play with MLL in the subway and on the street in boston...fun times....cool video!

  • Wow, what a fabulous memory...I'll never forget staying up all night for this shoot! I think you can see my hair for about half a second. I hope we see more Mary Lou videos someday. Thanks Dino!

  • nice to see nick solomon covered so well. the song keeps it's dreamy quality even though both the production and the artist are cleaner than the original. is it the age difference that makes her prettier than nick?

  • She's a lot prettier than Courtney Love...Oh shit, that was totally shallow. I mean her music has far more DEPTH than Hole. Plus, Billy Corgan didn't write all her stuff.

  • Not really.

  • There is NOTHING good about Courtney Love. Nothing. So, yes... Mary Lou Lord is... in all ways... better than Courtney Love. (Unless you think heroin addiction and husband murdering are good things... in which case, your up is just a bad place)

  • I don't think Cobain was murdered, I think he comitted suicide. I just wrote that Mary Lou Lord would've been a better wife for Kurt 'cause she looks nice and she was lovely in an interview. Maybe she would've had a better influence on Kurt and he'd still be alive.

  • Oh... I don't think she murdered him like that... I think Courtney Love helped drive Cobain to suicide.

  • Well, that is truth in this, I agree with you.

  • Well, I think if YOU woke up one morning after being in a haze of drugs and had a moment of clarity in which you realized you had married Courtney Love, you would shoot yourself as well.

  • I wouldn't be so selfish as to leave a child fatherless.

  • My wife and I were eating at a Logan's Road House (of all places) when this song came on. What a delightful surprise to hear genuine indie music in a franchised steak joint... even if I too prefer the 1995 version.

  • i feel so lucky to have seen her playing on the red line, "real good & for free"...i'm not in town much anymore but i hear she's still out there.

  • Great song. Just to give proper credit, this is a Nick Salomon composition which he recorded with The Bevis Frond. The original is interesting for lo-fi production with Nick singing both main vocal lines.

  • Yea, I agree with justenoughrope. I didnt know this version existed. I have the '95 ep

  • oh yeah thank you !!! I love her Songs, they gave me so much during such a long time...

  • i realy like her voice, very gental and sweet

  • She recorded another version of this song on her ep in 95 with Juliana Hatfield singing harmony but ultimatley drowning out Mary Lou's vocal...I'm not complaining, it was a better version than this.

  • Oops, that reads like I'm ripping on Mary Lou's voice or this version, I'm not. I just liked the ep version better, it was less produced and had a rawer edge to it. In any event it was a great song.

  • I like them both, actually... and this version has a Roger McGuinn guest solo on 12-string, which is pretty cool.

  • Awesome-thanks

  • This is one of my favorite albums!! She rocks! Thanks for posting. :)
