This version is probably the most beautiful thing that exists in this world. With all respect to Kylie, who did a pretty decent job, the truly dark and twisted feel of the song just shines in the Nick/Blixa duetting. All of their performances of this song are stunning. These two gorgeous men are a constant inspiration, I do hope that someday they will collaborate again to produce something great.
This version is so much better than the one with Kylie Minoque. Blixa sings with passion and straight out of the heart. Id like to hear more song with Blixa on Vox.
@Weeninja I advise you to listen to Einstürzende Neubauten, Blixa's main band. Especially the Stella Maris live version is great, but there is also the studio version with English subtitles on YouTube.
@Siste4366 Well, let's agree that The Bad Seeds (in this video's particular incarnation) came to an end in 2003 when Blixa left the band. That was his decision. Mick Harvey's departure was of course less amiable but what's done is done. Nick could resurrect the band with an entirely new line-up (minus G-man or there is no point). I'd love to see Nick fly solo on an original album with a variety of guest musicians and remove the current subject restrictions on his songwriting (God/love). ;)
I assume everyone's arguing about the use of "Nixa" ? Yeah, well. I happen to like it. It's cute as hell, and it's better than Blick or Bargave or Cavgeld or something. Nixa. Short, choppy, sweet and to the point. Nick and Blixa. Ftw, morganwolf5, ftw.
...I expected more moments like this in the video but nick was somewhere-I don't know where the camera didn't show and blixa was looking for him..and anyway..love them
I want to actually torture and brutally slaughter the retard who first came up with the idea of combining the first letter of a name with the rest of another when referring to a couple. You'd think this stupid "innovation" would die with him but it seems the world is full of these sort of copy-cat idiots who spread this unflattering stupidity like the plague, even when talking about brilliant artists like Nick Cave and Blixa Bargeld... Such a shame...
It's called a portmanteau word. "Portmanteau" originally refered to a type of suitcase but was later used by Lewis Carroll to refer to a a word that is a blend of two or more other words, in Through the Looking Glass - "Well, slithy means lithe and slimy ... You see it's like a portmanteau — there are two meanings packed up into one word." And it evolved from there =P
"And it evolved from there": so one person comes up with a new, stupid, linguistic "technique", some retard takes it to another level and uses it on human names, and a bunch of people (in the usual moronic fashion of those who get excited over anything "new" no matter how stomach-turning) decide to reproduce it on everyone... I'm telling you, one day we'll end up communicating through inarticulate cries.
Using your words, I'd like to 'brutally slaughter' people who habitually use the word 'retard' when referring to persons they consider to be of low intelligence. Although your argument has some merit (meme propogation, media driven jargon, group-think, etc) your communication style is completely off-putting. I gave you a pass the first time you commented six months ago. Now, it's time to STFU.
Yes, I know what you mean. The footage from 0.39 -0.55 is so spectacularly camp that I almost pissed myself when I first saw it. Stil laugh every time. Hilarious! The whole damn is f*cking fantastic! ;-)
