I thought this was good. He's a funny chap. It's nothing new being in character while on stage (Al Murray, Lee Nelson etc) but being with a member of the audience, he has no idea how they are going to react to his routine, so improvisation must be included somewhere. And that is comedy genius.
its so strange that people don't find this funny (if they have actually watched the whole thing)
i can understand that if you only watch 5 seconds you might not notice that he's putting on a performance because there are people who talk like this, but i found this more funny than the usual stand up or chat/panel comedy filtered to us
You small-minded pricks who slag this off, try and write and perform your own show and see how you get on. Anyway, he's on the road to stardom and has been recognised as a great comedy writer. However, you will temporarily be known as a pathetic little comment on YouTube.
Just watched it on BBC 3. Stand Up comedy is generally not funny (except for Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock ofc), esspecially British stand-up comedians but I thought this guy was too funny!! hahaa
People who don't like this are clearly the sort of people who don't actually ever go to live gigs and just sit and home watching youtube vids and then pretend to be aficionados. What makes this funny is that you can tell it would have been absolutely great live.
@Jamthonzi3000 I've seen live stand-up, and having watched this, I did think maybe it's better live, as I've found live stand-up often is, and in fact upon watching it again, I did find myself enjoying it more. I just think personally I don't like this type of act. I don't so much laugh at the awkward situations, but cringe, and actually feel bad. Maybe I shouldn't, but I actually reckon having experienced live stand up makes me enjoy it less, what if that were me? It makes me uncomfortable.
love the line about daniel day lewis being the most successful actor ever to appear in in nobody's favourite film! hahahaha so true! this guy is brilliant. definitely a deserved winner watched this with my cousin early morning on bbc and we were on the floor laughing. good luck adam!
I, for one, think this is funny. I wasn't laughing at the start but absurdest comedy rewards loyalty and I was laughing heartily by the end. And I think part of the bit is that he's not really a good impersonator of DDL, that would seem kind of obvious to me, otherwise he would just be an impersonator comedian, which he's clearly not.
@el01csy Ive been the the edinburgh festival, was a good weekend. Ive also seen practically the same sketch being pulled off 100x better. The guy basically relied on making people uncomfortable, normally the comedians demeanour in this type of sketch would be more endearing.
@MrAttPatt Yes. Those that didn't don't know anything about comedy. I've seen him three times in small rooms and he's been absolutely hysterical. The negative comments on here just illustrate why Michael McIntyre is so popular...
word for word, what i heard in the london soho tonight. so sad

'I gave you the Daniel Day tongue a bit there, didn't I?' ;)
LOL I thought he was hilarious. The rest of the acts were shite.
It's very hard to consecutively keep an audience amused, and he just about managed it.

Most people hating this probably have no idea who DDL is, and fart in the bath laughing their head off.

I think actually, Adam Riches' style of comedy is incredibly bold... This isn't his best work, but it still has its moments.

really good. never heard of him but I've heard of the other nominees and he's funnier than them.

Won me over eventually.
I saw him do the swing ball champion guy and I wasn't too sure.
Making audience members feel uncomfortable seems to be his thing.
He does it well.
I liked it.

For shouty audience participation rich comedy, I much prefer Nick Helm, he should have won.

Yeah: sure; the others were probably a crock of shit, too.
Keep up the...work, Al Murray the Second.

This is bad. It might be ever so slightly funny if the parody was even the tiniest bit recognisable as Daniel Day-Lewis, but I don't think it is.
Granted, the rogue thumb line caused a chuckle, but otherwise...
