Tim Flannery was the stand out for me, check him out, really impressive contributions to the climate change / environmentalist movement - something i feel is too often left out or forgotten about by atheists/freethinkers

You might want to look into this...specifically how physics professors (pre-1900) were using inadequate equations that 'proved' heavier than air flight impossible. And religions loved it claiming - "Our God(s) makes bumblebees fly! not nature!" It was only after the Wright brothers, we discovered the concept of aerodynamic lift and stopped claiming flight was proof of God(s).
