The point of this film isn't to teach kids about (not) eating art, it's about helping them understand that everyone sees art in different ways. We all bring our own experiences to the art we see. If a statue looks like ice cream to a kid (or adult!), that's not artistic sacrilege...it's actually a rather profound observation. The rest of this movie gets at that theme in a dozen different ways. Of course it's subtle and fun and you don't realize that the lesson worked until many years later.

Wow, I just realised this whole movie was about the characters trying to avoid the security guards while looking for Big Bird.

Nowadays the movie would just have the people going up to the security guards saying "Excuse me sir, I must have been distracted when you made the announcement! Could you let my group and me out?" to show a good influence on the kids. We were so much more hardcore.

Wow...um, after seeing this after so many years I feel a sense of nostalgia and mockery at the same time. Sesame Street was supposed to teach children about morals and ideals and then they had this song...I remember when I was a kid I used to take this song quite seriously. Now I can't stop laughing. I'm actually half tempted to go to the Metropolitan sometime in the near future and see if I can get away with singing this song without being thrown out.
