  • Cry all the tears!

  • still get sad remembering (or playing) this epic game and then that ending ..so many emotions can't be find in 99% of the games nowadays

  • @cecliff2

Oo i didnt see ur comment its very familiar xD

  • @AriesT1

i think the ending of Lufia rise of the sinistrals is very sad too. but nvm i cried at both xD and im 15 years old now :P

  • Must..... not.... cry.......

  • in other words most fantasy films and games is about not only the death and ressrection of the world but also the death and resurection of the hero

  • i know harry potter didnt die like ark but i think there's a theme for most heroes in fantasy movies and video games when the hero finish his duty like a profacy the hero must die and have the world start a new begining a glimmer of hope like jesus crist who scriface everything in order make the world a better place like ark and both ark and harry have some evil inside of them and they must destory the evil inside themselves by dieing and reborn as a new man

  • poor ark :( so sad but beautiful it wouldnt sound out of place when a family member like my mother died and plays at her funeral as my mother says goodbye to this sad crual world and belive or not my mother died when i was 11 it gives me tears as to know what death feels like and as sirus black from the harry potter and the deathly hallows movies and book said to harry potter dieing is quicker then feeling asleep and ark like harry scriface his life to rebilled the world and destroy dark gaia

  • He did not die and the explanation is in the begin of the game, where two girls that say "Boys and girls are linked by promises of the past"

At least I think that explains it all and why they are reunited at the end, so much so we do not need never see the reunion, because everyone knew that they were linked by a promise of the past.

This is definitely a title that we must replayed to revive one of the best RPG stories.

    Greetings Gamers

  • @inuyashauca Uhmm...Not exactly. Quintet believed in reincarnation. They say "Boys and girls are linked by promises of the past" which the game simply want to tell you about their "reincarnation theme" It best describes the concept, where the soul or spirit after the death of the body, is believed to return to live in a new human body, or, either as a human being, animal or plant. In this case two things are possible. Ark died and returned as a bird (like the ending), or as a different human.

  • @19Imperial88 Very interesting, thanks for your explanation

  • @inuyashauca No problem. It's actually really simple. "Boys and girls are linked by promises of the past". for example. I journey with a girl and throughout the whole adventure (battling monsters, bosses and meeting other friends on the way, me and the girl start liking and eventually are bound together. If I believed in reincarnation I tell the girl, that we will never be seperated and when we die that we will find each other no matter what. And THAT is what they ment by link from promises.

  • this will be the last thing heard at my funeral

  • I dont know this game...yet. Some1 sent me this OST and imma gonna look for it now, just because of this...

  • Woh, I'm 25 and when hearing this I actually get tears in my eyes. This game was and still is just fantastic in so many ways.

  • Elle told him they will be resurrected. Whether the bird is real or a dream, whether it's light/dark/merged Ark is irrelevant. What is for certain is that True Heroes Never Die.

  • I'm just here for the comments. I can't listen to this without wanting to bawl my eyes out. "Terranigma's" ending puts the "bitter" in "bittersweet."

Gaia thought she was giving Ark one last day of happiness. But Ark would have known it was just a sham, an illusion. Heh. An "illusion of Gaia." Don't that beat all?

  • Ark saved the world, but he had to die after he did it, why? is like one end something and then they'll say to you: "Good work! You finished! Now go away, you finished here, there's no more to you in this place" :(

  • @pap3809 he doesnt die

    he became a bird^^

  • @Sab2Intros the bird scene at the end was his reincarnation OR just a last dream. I personally think the second one since everything that belonged to him vanished. So I assume he too also vanished but as the game said, he had his last dream...a dream he became a bird and saw the world progress and grow. So yes I think the bird scene was just a last dream before our beloved hero vanish forever.

  • @Sab2Intros and what I ment by "everything that belonged to him" was simply everything in the underworld like crysta, the 5 towers, all the people etc etc. They all dissappear and so would our hero

  • Why do every single character - including Sun Gaïa ! - in this damn game have the same speech ? "Well done ! You saved the world ! Now go die simpleton." ToT

  • lufia ii ending was sad. but this is the saddest ending imo...

maxim died saving the world. i think it's a worhty death..

but ark.. he's disappear after saving the world. i feel sad, bitter, and betrayed in the end...

  • @arzamond

Agreed, Terranigma is only slightly sadder than Lufia II though(That "Your parents will be home soon" bit is always a knife to the heart though)

Ark was made for an evil purpose. Which he fulfilled, and then was disposed of. Later he returns to crysta. Everyone he knew was a lie. Loved ones and friends, all fake. Even worse, they tell him if he had never opened that box, he could have lived a peaceful life. And then attack him. After the last fight he fades away.

  • if a game deserves a remake. is this game!

i'll never never forget this game T-T

  • Da kommt so viel Gefühl rüber!!!!!!!

  • omfg nostalgia

  • Tears were shed here.

  • although death do us part. . . if our destiny is to be together. . . we will meet again. . . TERRANIGMA 4 EVER. T_T

  • You know what? Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma... None of their protagonists were able to live like they used to once they beat Dark Gaia.

  • @PTp1ranha well, they come back, it's just that they had to give up their old life to do so.

Blazer became a human and lost his memories.

Will loses his memories but meets up with everyone again.

Ark vanishes completely but is reborn again.

come to think of it, they always lose the memories of their journey.

  • Maybe Ark became the bird and knocks on her door. Kumari said that every lifeform gets resurrected as something else and right before the scene where Elle heres the knocking, the bird pulled down into the woods.

  • @Rainbow31415 Dark Ark was having a dream, so the ending credits was a dream of dark Ark. So basically the person who knocked on the door was Light Ark

  • @19Imperial88

But didn't Dark Ark and Light Ark merge at the South Pole?

  • @19Imperial88

I thought the "Dark"Ark was killed by the "light" image in the antarctis and then he got resurrected by the "light" goddess (in german its Devina or something like that) so as you fight Ragnaros you are the only Ark out there. When you killed Ragnaros "Devina" tells you that you are also born as a lifeform of the "light"side. But you die because without Ragnaros there is no Underworld. So Ark dies -> his "essence" gets transformed into a bird and visits Elle.

  • @Rainbow31415 No, actually he didnt die. It is true that he was resurected, but it was the same old Dark Ark. It was not Light Ark. Because AFTER Antarctis, when you put all five starstones inside of the skull statues Dark Ark hears a voice from the Light Ark, and I think at that time they fused together to beat Dark Gaia (never heard of ragnaros) When they win, they split up to their respective worlds, and since the Underworld was fading away, Dark Ark was reincarnated into a bird i think.

  • @Rainbow31415 I don't know, maybe Dark Ark was having his last dream about being a bird, as it was stated in the dialogue, or maybe he was reincarnated into a bird. Its a complex story. But I am almost very sure that it was NOT Dark Ark who visited Elle. It was Light Ark who returned to his Elle. For Dark Ark, it was over. He couldn't be it not possible, since he belonged to the Underworld. His story was over, he has done his duty, and his Light side will live on the surface.

  • @19Imperial88

I understood it that way that when Dark Ark was killed at the hero's grave he was resurrected by all the souls he freed on his journey so basically he then wasn't Dark Ark anymore

from then on he was both Light and Dark Ark.

I think it might have been the reincarnation of ark as a baby who was at the door (like when he was reincarnated the first time)

  • @iGourry I think its true about that Dark and Light Ark merging together at the Hero's Grave. They did so to battle Dark Gaia. After the battle the split again to their respective worlds. As for the person that has knocked on the door. I am sure it was NOT baby ark LOL!! First of all, in the game you learn that Elle is your sweetheart, so it doesnt make sense that she could be your mother at the end....and even IF it was baby ark....that's a hell of a baby if it can already knock on doors......

  • @19Imperial88

I don't think the story of anyone in crysta was over

all of the people of crysta had souls so they will be reincarnated

and ark and elle from crysta will meet again sometime in another life

oh besides with ragnaros he meant dark gaia^^ the name was changed in some languages

for example in german it's Ragnara

even elles name is different in german^^ a much better name in my opinion: Melina =D

  • @iGourry Let's put it this way. Crysta was all an illusion. Created by Dark Gaia for his own dark plans. When Dark Gaia was defeated, there was no need for Crysta to be exist. So that's why Ark was giving 1 whole day before everything was vanished. Though it is true about the reincarnation thing. The company that made these series believed in that kind of thing I think. And yeah, I knew what he ment with Ragnaros or Ragnara, I like Dark Gaia better. Melina sounds better then Elle though haha

  • @19Imperial88

Ark dies in the end of the game, like everyone else in the village. What you see is his counterpart in the light world being born and dropped off, possibly by Royd and that chick.

  • @ElliotCarver I misunderstood that question. And no, at the end of the game Ark does not die. He and everybody dissappear since the resurrection of everything was succesfull. That bird at the credits was Ark dreaming his last dream being a bird and see the worlds progress. At the very end of the game, its not the light Ark as a baby, no, its light Ark as we know him, just like dark Ark....

Why they did this was because of the company believed in reincarnation that Ark and Elle would meet again.

  • i miss such wonderful stories in games of today...

  • memories... best game ever... after ocarina of time of course^^

  • Hm-Hm-Hm...

Remembers to an amazing childhood. God, how i love this game.

I dont know excatly but i think i was fuckin' sad the game ended

  • It's time for a hero 's journey to finally rest in peace.

    ~The End~

  • this is the most awesome game i EVER played in my childhood theres no better game than this !!!

  • @insanebenji Same here. It really is just the most beautiful game ever. I wish they could upgrade it to a computer version with 3D graphics, but with exactly the same story. I also cried each time when Ark lay asleep. This is really the most epic game ever released.

  • @19Imperial88 I think the ending states after defeating dark gaia, both Arks separate once again and return to their perspective worlds. the idea is at the end of Dark Ark's (the ark you play as) last dream, waiting until the day earth needs him again. Light Ark returns to Storkholm with light Elle. I have some official art showing the scenes, very touching but bittersweet ending to perhaps the worlds most underrated and all but forgotten RPG. Its truly amazing to say the least.

  • i wonder why they did not include this one in Tenchi Sōzō: Creative Soundtracks album.

  • This actually brings out tears, where no other song, film or game can even come close to doing so. <3

  • as it has been said, a remake would be great... This such an amazing game! it needs a Remake^^

  • @Fischfiloet Only if the remake remained the same, with no stupid gimmicks and bs "enhancements"... well maybe a slightly smoother graphics but not a full modernization, in my opinion of course.

  • Aaahhh... Noooo.... I missed Ark. with. this. song.

  • Masterpiece of a game... but some of the boss fights could have been more challenging, especially security robot + dark gaia

  • @DrScheusal

Every easy thing in that game was offset by Bloody Mary

  • respect...that...4eva

  • ;_;

  • My favorite RPG!!

  • That's because Dragon Quest sells.

  • Why doesn't Enix make games like this anymore? All they do is rehash Dragon Quest.

  • wooooaaa terranigma es el mejor juego que he jugado en toda mi vida... seamos heroes para este mundo! saludos

  • Sad ending but a very good storyline!

I Wished that they realese a new version of it in 3D or something like that for the Game Cube or now for the Nintendo Wii...

  • wait a minut or 2... after the last boss.. did Ark died after that...? =O

  • @helspites if you want to know why he die write me i dont want to spoiler you if you didn't want to

  • @MrPasii write at me sry

  • Ya know, I've forgot about this game and this song gave me a shock through out my body. It liked gave all the memory of how the game was back into my head. I only have 4 words to say to this game: A Freaking Amazing Game.

  • I only got to 0:21, then I had the first tears in my eyes... wonderful game!

  • Whas this all worth for Ark?

wILL HE FIND HAPPYNESS AND PEACE IN THE END????

THE WORLD... IS ABSOLUTY NOT FEAR TO HIM.

    Give hin his life BAAAACK!!!!!

    ;w;

    Why....WHY?

    *crying the hell out*

  • where can i download this music?

  • Beautiful piece of music. Of course every time I hear it, I am reminded that shortly after is the time that I must give up the character's life --

but finally in his dream he is free, and perhaps will get to say goodbye to his love just before midnight strikes...

  • In the end its not sure about his dez, in the final image someone knocks at naomi´s (light world) doors, and when she opens a shadow that resembles ark´s saw...

and thats teh final image of the end...

  • I beat this game a long time ago, any way, it goes like this: In the game is said that everyone has another self, since there's light(overworld) and darkness (underworld)...the underworld (and, of course, its inhabitants, including Ark) was meant to disappear, which happened after Dark Gaia was defeated...the guy that appeared in the final image is "Light Ark"

  • i love that song..

    but still its sad T^T

  • It´s terrible that he died.

But my friend working on terranigma 2 and i translat in englisch.

i must cry so a beautiful music.

  • He is not dead, in my opinion, he is the guy who knocks on the door at the very end.

But yeah, this is one of the saddest endings of all time.

Everyone means, FF7 was the first game who made us cry. No! It was Terranigma 2 years before.

God, this is touchy even 14 years later.

  • actually this game was released in 1996 so its 13 years ago and 1 year before FFVII =)

For the rest....yes I had shed some tears watching the ending, after light ark knocked on the door, and then u see the 'the end' screen with crysta music in the background.....that music did it....=)

  • So touching. Brings back old memories...

    I'm playing it again!

  • @AriesT1 Agreed, this is the most beautiful and sad ending to a game ever made. Ark's duty was done and he saw himself freely flying over the world in peace, yet his entire village disappeared in the process. I think the knock on the door at the very end stands for hope in general.

  • @AriesT1 Actually for me it was Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals (Just "Lufia" in the EU, for the sequel has never been released here). Seriously.....the ending theme that set's in when Tia starts to cry....holy....I may manage to hold back my tears UNTIL this scene...but when it starts and the music sets in....boom..rivers....

  • @AriesT1 i agree T_T the story as well as the ending were really touching =( i think that the guy who knocks at the door might be him or maybe is someone (or something) that knocking the door makes elle go out and see a baby Ark, in this way he could grow up as a new person. (like when dark-elle wanted to kill him). like the ending of shadow of the colossus. well, that's my just opinion =)

  • @AriesT1

Before Terranigma, Lufia 2 was the one that made me cry. Look up the ending some time. But that was due to Terranigma not making it to the US.(Unfortunately)

Storywise I hold Terranigma in top place to this day.

  • True, Indeed. Some of the most epic Hero's ever Die at the End :'-[

  • Every time i was in the village at the end, I stay hour and hour!! I don't want to sleep and die!!

  • oh TT

    that was so sad

When Ark was at last in Crysta and this song was played, Id cryied TT

  • Magnifique, sublime!!!!

J'ai pas retrouvé un jeu comme Terranigma! C'est à dire triste, émouvant, captivant!!

    Et des musiques jamais égalé
