  • Lon Chaney has such old world Middle European charm and grace that he is perfect for the part of an aristocratic count. He looks the part completely.

  • 1943. Only 12 years after the Bela Lugosi Dracula film.

  • Funny that Curt Siodmak is credited as "Curtis" in this film. I don't think he ever was, anywhere else...

  • Scary, Huh?

  • OMG!

  • LOL

  • BOO!!!!

  • Happy Halloween!!!!

  • Man this films brilliant....I always notice when the girls start chatting how you can see their breasts and nipples......Sorta distracting

  • Gee, why didn't I think of that?????

  • @aimperator IDK

  • I absolutely love this movie, but they made one glaring mistake in it. In the scene where Count Alucard materilizes in the house on the second floor, there is a mirror on the wall which catches his image in it. Remember, vampires cast no reflection in a mirror.

  • @aimperator I can find an explanation... one moment please...

OK! I have it. That's not a mirror--it's an HDTV connected to a webcam which a time-traveler brought only to confuse YouTube commenters! AHA!

  • @aimperator Would you rather he sparkled?

  • I like the bayou location--different. All that Spanish moss, voodoo queens, murky swamps and plantation houses are very atmospheric!! Don't need a castle!

  • I love the bit where the old woman tells her that she is going to marry a corpse. That means that she's either going to marry Keith Richards or Pete Doherty.

  • Alucard is in the coffin, trying very hard not to laugh when these guys say he's not there. lols

  • Love the cob web credits beginning--so typical of Universal class/camp. This movie is stylish, scary, atmospheric. Louis Albritton is superb with classy speaking voice, aura of mystery--the very definition of obsessed in a gold lame' dress (why didn't she make more movies?--I love her). What more could one want? So lets us all sit back with a big bowl of buttered pop corn and some Diet Dr. Pepper.

  • yea pernounce alucard backwards i dare you

  • @battler9000 YOU ARE A GENIUS!!! CALL THE PRESIDENT, WE HAVE A HERO RIGHT HERE!!! HOW THE HECK DID YOU FIGURE THAT OUT?!?!

  • @Plingio IDK

  • It's nice to see how they always left the star who played the monster at the end, even if he was famous. It somehow affects me for some reason, as if the big cheese is the last one. Anybody else feels that?

  • can you upload dracula's daughter by any chance?

  • @Nerdinja really where can i find it?

  • This is my favorite Universal Monster flick. The cast, the script, the sets and the creepy atmosphere are superb! A Great flick for the Halloween season:-)

  • Jeezus...!!!

Evelyn Ankers looks fine as hell in this flick!

  • Now THIS is what I call a good horror movie!!

  • I remember watching these on the Saturday matinee on Saturdays on our ABC affiliate back in 76

  • Count Alucard!

I wonder what that spells backwards *-*

for some reason I like this film

  • alucard is DA man, i mean, dude, it's alucard tepes, the son of dracula, half human and half vampire, he even has his own castlevania game, HOW COOL IS THAT

  • In Castlevania his real name is "Adrian Fahrenheit Tepes"

  • screw the real name, alucard is a much cooler and manly (alucard looks like a woman tho)

  • Gee, I wonder who Alucard is, lol.

  • I always found this one my favorite of the universial Dracula films. Much better then the original film (IMO of course). Wonderful atmosphere, great acting and just utterly chilling story!

  • SON OF DRACULA superior great acting sets the music, CRAVEN superb, CHANEY Brilliant, they battle just fine. Bromberg excellent..Im a horror film historian have my own website dedicated to these old horror films & ctors of bygone era. I knew msny of these actors. Universal at its best in those days. This movie withstands test of time. Cant find fault here. ah they make em like these anymore folks . lets enjoy and not analyze. ive seen much worse like you. SOD is FOREVER. Thanks. TOMK

  • @tomkes100 Yes! Lets also add Ms. Albritton--one of the finest portrayals on the horror screen.

  • love this if you could upload Daughter of Dracula?

  • My favorite of all the Dracula movies, so unusual (the setting) and so good! Thank you for this!

  • My fav too! Amazing setting

  • Yes, it's so different from all monster movies actually, but this one wins on atmosphere and originality. Curt Siodmak worte it, his brother is Robert Siodmak who directed one of my all time favorite horror movies, Spiral Stairacase with Dorothy McGuire, Ethel Barrymore, etc, fabulous movie.

  • spiral staircase is awesome.i didnt realise that was his bro.=0 did u see the remake?

  • I'm afraid so. The original far surpasses the remake in every respect.

  • @skylur44

Lon Chaney never got his due by most film students, buffs, and historians; my only quibble is with the premise--hard to think Count Dracula could be outwitted like that.

  • @RPenta He had tremendous shoes to fill, consequently, he is, as you say, not given his due which is a real tragedy because he was a fiine actor on his own and possessed a quality his father never had, that of evoking sympathy no matter what or who he was portraying on the screen.

  • @skylur44

The only actor ever to play on screen Dracula, The Wolf Man, the Frankenstein Monster, and the Mummy. I am sorry he never got to play his father's most famous screen role, the Phantom of the Opera. While we are mentioning underrated actors, let us not forget Vincent Price--the words "decadent" and "wealthy corruption" come to mind with him.

  • @RPenta Yes, so many fine actors and never got the recognition and praise they deserved.

  • @skylur44 Agree there though Gloria Holden was far superior as offspring of the Vampire Count in "Dracula's Daugther" than Chaney was in this and far sexier too!

  • @theman2017inc She was excellent but that is apples and oranges considering they are different genders.

  • @skylur44 True, hence slightly different flims. Good point!!!

  • @skylur44 Was this a "remake" or "sequel" of the 1931 original???

  • @theman2017inc sequel. And if u r confused, Alucard is somehow Dracula in disguise.

  • Thanks for posting this!
