This patent clearly states this CBD can (PREVENT) or treat a wide variety of human conditions. Look up U.S. Patent# 6630507 This was awarded to US Dept. of Health in 2003. One of the Cannabinoids found even in low grade hemp is called CBD or cannabidiol. This patent clearly states this CBD can (PREVENT) or treat a wide variety of human conditions. This compound found in Cannabis/Hemp does not get a person high but still has vast medical benefit if made into medicine. This should negate any Government ban against real medicine. VOTE!

I say let people do whatever but 2 rules:
1) You do it around/try selling it to a kid - Ultra-severe penalties.
2) You commit a crime while under the influence - double or triple the normal sentence *Mandatory*.

After trying 'pot', I've concluded that it is, as far as my bodies biochem goes, a it is a FAR minor drug compared to alcohol.
I'm not one of the dumbass stoners, nor am I an idiot who thinks all drugs are the devil incarnate.

This is a macroeconomic issue. Too much money is being spent housing non-violent criminals in the prison system. Not to mention the court costs and the law enforcement expenditures sucked into this black hole called prohibition. Prohibition doesn't discourage usage, it only costs the federal government money America doesn't have.
The necessity of a prison system is to isolate dangerous people from society. Severe punishment is not only cruel and unsual, but it is a waste of tax dollars.

Heroine was used successfuly as a Medical drug before it was criminalized. It dramatically increased in popularity as a 'recreational' drug after it was made illegal(in the UK).

@illxplicit07 What that shrink fails to acknowledge is that for every bipolar whose symptoms become more pronounced from pot, there are several more bipolars whose symptoms are well managed with pot. (With fewer side effects.) Then again, I'm sure there is more than one shrink worried about losing patients (hence lots and lots of income) if cannabis were to be accepted and more widely used in treating mental illness. Psychotropics also all too often exacerbate mental illness. ;)
