To: lombard43 If you read there does seem to be very strong ties between Darwinism, leading to Atheism, which leads to such things as Eugenics. His point is that when human life is seen as nothing more than randomness with no real purpose, then life becomes inconsequential. When this school of thought becomes widely excepted it brings about the most ruthless of human behavior.
To: lombard43 You are just as much a liar as you say Groeschel is. Did you personally know Hitler? You don't know jack, you just assume you know what Hitler's thoughts or beliefs were. You just read some books that speculated knowing the mind of such a man. You are just giving another point of view. People like Hitler used any type of ideology to get what he wanted done.
I am looking to contact Father Groeschel. I know him from way back when I was a kid at Children Village were he was my priest, and helped me become an alter boy.
I am writing a book, and need to contact him. If anyone can help I am sure God will repay you. Thank you
@vidgam just saw your comment about a year after you posted it. How ist your book project going? Did you manage to contact Fr B? He is at CFR in NYC, as far as I know. God bless, S.
Could anyone who believes in Jesus, sincerely, have ever been part of the Nazi idealogy? And of course there are loving atheists, what does that have to do with hedonism?
That is not what I said. What I said is that Groeschel tries to slander Atheists by saying that Hitler was an Atheist. Which he wasn't. Conversely, Atheists often point out that Hitler was a Catholic as some sort of rebuttal. But he abandoned Catholicism, at some point in his life.
I went to public school during grades 7-12, and learned about the war and Hitler in the 8th grade. I learned there that Hitler was an Atheist. It came up because a few people asked if he was afraid of God or hell (related to the evil that Hitler was doing) Hitler being an Atheist is not a uniquely Catholic idea.
I'm wondering... when Hitler abandoned Catholicism, did he do so because he began to reject God's existence, or because he believed in God but not the institution?
@cheatsatmonopoly hitler embraced the occult , and paganism fully. the Swatizka, is an ancient pagan symbol. He rejected Christianity, and killed countless religious and clergy .
I watched Groeschel for years. I read his books. But I no longer watch him. He is a slanderer. He often claims on his show that Hitler was an Atheist; apparently in an effort to discredit Atheism.
In reality Hitler did believe in a god, though this was a sort of crazed, racist god.
Point being; either Groeschel is too careless to research Hitler's beliefs and is commenting on issues that he is ignorant of, or he's lying. Either way, he shouldn't be on television, and he is a slanderer.
It is easy for him to talk about hedonism in western secular culture; but of course when it comes to the abuse scandal Groeschel will spend more time blaming the media for reporting it than he will spend time criticizing the Church hierarchy for covering it up. Groeschel will ignore the accumulation of wealth in the Church. He will brag about his charitable work, which is commendable, while ignoring the charitable efforts of western secularists; which contradicts his point about their hedonism.
I am not an Atheist, by the way, lest my prior post and this post lead someone to believe so. But my final point is this; Atheists have lower divorce rates than Christians and Jews. 2/3 of Catholics do not agree with the Church's position on birth control or abortion. So clearly Theists cannot claim to have some sort of superiority in terms of family values.
The fact is that if people do not want marriage and children, that is their choice. That was Groeschel's choice for his life, after all.
You don't sound fair-minded at all. For someone who claims to have read his books, you honest think that Groeschel is too lazy to research his own assertions. You don't read his books, and if you do, it's only to find holes in his arguments (which is impossible) If you have a problem with the Church or with Groeschel, nothing I say in this little box will fix that. But you're obviously a sour soul and I'm sorry for you. But you don't have to spread your intellectually dishonest hatred here.
It is factual history that Hitler was not an Atheist, that Atheism was not a motivation for the crimes of the Holocaust, and that most Nazis were Christians in one form or another. I accuse both you and Goreschel of intellectual laziness in making claims that you have no evidence for.
And, yes, I have read Groeschel's books; you are in no position to question that. Have you read his books? Do you read anything?
"My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter."-Hitler
There is more to the quote, but I will not post it because it is a very anti-Semitic quote and I do not want to help spread it.
Hitler was a liar, we should not take his public statements seriously. He was not a Christian. But he used propaganda to appeal to the anti-Semitism of Christians, he used Christian hatred of Jews as a tool. Benedict Groeschel lies when he tries to link Atheism with Hitler's crimes.
The Catholic Church signed a concordat with the Nazis, and Hitler gained absolute power when the Catholic Centre Party gave in to Hitler. Conversely, Pius XI later condemned the Nazi ideology, and many Catholics in southern Germany were opposed to Hitler and his rise.
My point is simply to say that it is a complex history. No one religious group is responsible. But it is a lie to say that Hitler was an Atheist, or that Atheism had anything to do with the crime of Holocaust. Groeschel is a liar
The whole of fabric of society has its basis in the love of a parent/mother for their child. The family is being undermined deliberately. The purpose of this is to separate each of us from our natural instinctive ties and become hedonistic. Thank you for your important message. Unless this message reaches the masses it will continue to be hell on earth...
Father Groeschel, you speak the truth and in doing so you justify many who have made mistakes and been down a wrong path in life. Your words reveal the truth of Jesus and what he did for the "whole" world (those who believe in him). I pray for you and others to remain strong and to continue to feed G-d's children.

For fellow fans of Fr. Benedict Groeschel:
Literal meaning of his name:
Benedict is from Latin and means Good Word.
Groeschel is German and is a nickel or 5-cent piece.
In my family, we affectionately refer to Father sometimes as Pappy Goodword 5-Cents.
Yes, we ARE eccentric.
