  • I hope for the next film, they utilize "TRON 2.0" as an actual resource. I mean Jet could be a great character to be Sam's friend and his ally (and you never know, that video game programming could come in handy). Plus, if Dillenger Jr. is going to be the villain in the next film, it'd be great to have the trifecta of Flynn and Bradley vs. Dillenger again. Since the "Flynn Lives" ARG mentions Dillenger Systems, they could use the same hostile takeover from the game as a basis for the next film.

  • Legacy is an obvious ripoff of 2.0. There are so many points that are similar to both, and Legaçy creative people weren't even able to retain that Tron feel. Legacy director even said 2.0 was non-canon... Sorry, pal, but to me, Legaçy is the one who is outside the story.

  • @DavidLinkan I'd love to hear your take on the similar plot points and how it's an obvious ripoff. I liked 2.0 very much, but I can't quite see the connection you're making.

  • @MobyGamer Well, I got a good chuckle playing 2.0 after I saw Legacy. Sons of the human characters, down the rabbit hole to save their dads, hooked up with pretty digital girls who got them off the Game Grid, and the Tron code was a bit glitched...Yeah, Jet and Sam could have a great time comparing notes.

  • @MobyGamer : Sure. Both are using the "son of " as the hero, both son are extremely versatile with computers, very rebellious and troublemakers. Both are digitalized within the system against their will, are captured, forced to go to the games, rescued on the light cycle grid by a female program which turns to be a great fighter. Both fathers will be helped then come to the rescue, the female program will sacrify herself once to reapper later thanks to the father.

  • @MobyGamer : Of course, there will be a sexual tension between the hero and the female warrior. In the end, we'll see a huge server ( which the hero will board a short moment ) containing evil troops, which will be destroyed at the end, before it can be transferred someplace else.

In both media Tron is barely present, the Light Cycles and the programs have evolved, Flynn has disapeared from a long time, and I could also mention the " Tron Legaçy code " even if it has no relations.

  • @MobyGamer : I think this is all that cross my mind right now... apart the Bar thing ( Progress Bar / End of the Line Club ) where the heroes loose the precious code ( the TL code or Flynn's disc ). I won't mention Abraxas from the Evolution game, wich looks like ad acts like Thorne.

If I were to be honest, I'd say they use 2.0 as a base for their script, and then Hollywood-ised it. And now, 2.0 is not even considered canon... sad, very sad. :(

    My two cents.

  • After playing Tron: Evolution, I still keep thinking the main baddy in this game looks slightly like Abraxas

  • Dude, great editing work!

It's still one of my favourite games of all time. The art design was incredible and the gameplay very innovative for a FPS.

  • How the hell did I missed that game? Oh, I know. I believed shity reviews and my fear of it being a cheap rip-off of a good franchise took the best of me. Time to fix that mistake.

  • Classic game. One of the best of the last decade. Props to those involved in its inception and making. Legacy creators should've at least recognized the obvious influences from 2.0.

  • lol any one see the guy talk about tron legacy? lol plus the main guy looks like sam flynn lol

  • I was the head of QA for Disney Interactive. My name is in the credits, Dave Arnspiger. I go by DaveTRON on TRON fan sites.

  • Love it. Nice to see our entry into the TRON world isn't being completely forgotten with the pending release of TRON Legacy. Considering we dealt with the idea of TRON Legacy code in our game, you think the movie would give us some props, but nooooo. :-)

  • @TraumanticStudios Hi, what role did you play in the making of TRON 2.0? I can't find any link online between Traumantic and TRON 2.0.

  • @TraumanticStudios Yes, search for TRON on google now, and all you get are TRON Legacy listed! So much for google being a search engine! It's a 'sell to you' engine'!!!

  • What a superbly edited tribute video - just excellent! Worthy of this great game - which tells you how good I think of the is video! BIG thumbs up - WAY up!!!

  • Great job on the tribute video! Seeing it again warms my bits.

  • Really nicely done video, much better than the usual "hey I recorded the intro to Tron 2.0 and posted it on Youtube" effort. Gotta favorite this one.

If you ever want to play Tron 2.0 in widescreen aspect rather than 1600x1200 (if your monitor supports it) you should check out the Killer App Mod.

  • @redrain85 Thanks. I tried to highlight what awesome work the designers did. Playing it at the time was like a dream come true for the teenager in me.

I tried Killer App but it wreaked havoc on my system -- saves would load, would crash in a few places, so I just played it through normally.

  • @MobyGamer Not sure what crashes you experienced, but the game often crashes on later levels (particularly Command Module) no matter what. It's just a bug in the game that was never fixed.

By "saves would load", did you mean saves wouldn't load? Old saved games won't work with the KA mod. It kind of acts like a patch. You have to start over. If you started a new game it would probably work.
