This is the problem when you attain the level of technique Guthrie has...you can't resist but show it off, regardless of whether it fits the song or not. I appreciate he would want to put his own stamp on it, rather than simply play Gary's solo, (which he could do with 1 finger probably), but please play within context. This is dreadful, and shows how technique is no substitute for soul. Guthrie often criticizes those who play fast for the sake of it...well...hello!

If nothing else it just confirms just how good Gary was, because these guys don't even get close. For a start a lot of the bends are outright flat in a lot of places..
