  • Good to know.

  • Great video! Thanks for sharing:)

    Grandma Mary

  • Liquid mass expand indefinitely Jupiter the fifth.

  • lol and they still call it a planet, earth is like a mini pluto compared to it

  • Respond to this video... Why is jupiter shrinking ?

  • Well there would be No NIght time =) well people need to sleep sometime

  • JUPITER ISMY GREATEST FAVORITE PLANET EVER I DISCOVERED :'D Jupiter And Earth Rocks!!!!

  • but the jupiter takes only 10 hours to spinn in my school!!

  • thumbs up 4 exorcist music

  • Does jupiter protect our earth from ashtroids?

  • so smart environment, always in exclusive , we can protect ourselves with wind, fire and harsh weather. :) Because its big gravity, it attracted 63 moons, while earth is only attract 1 moon 1 sun. :) So small. Wishing next life spend there. :) No need no more weapons. and wars. :)

  • If the core of Jupiter was ejected, and the planet was ignited, under the gravitational fields, could fusion be initiated and the planet become a star, when it collapsed? Just an idea.

  • I think Jupiters size would overwhelm any astronaut that would some day reach there.

  • OUTSTANDING JOB! I didn't just enjoy it, I LOVED IT! AMAZING! YOU ARE INTELLIGENT! If there's 1 thing you & me have in common, it's your LOVE FOR SCIENCE! Me & Our Astronomy Fans REALLY APPRECIATE ALL THE HARD WORK YOU DID IN MAKING THESE INSPIRING VIDEOS! Jupiter is BIG! It'd be great to send a probe to skim the cloud tops, but the escape velocity would be CRAZY! It's SO MASSIVE! I'd LOVE to see the CORE! Metallic Hydrogen? WOW!

    -Kyle

  • I wonder if jupiter could talk what would it say. It would probably say something like "my name isn't jupiter, MY NAME IS BILL"

  • music sounds like the exorcist

  • Nice vid.

  • I learned so much from this thanks dude!

  • rocks great tune

  • well marduk is cool lolz

  • Did you know that Jupiter had lost his dark strip by that Great Red Spot? :O Now it looks a little white o.O

  • Thanks, I really needed this for my writing sample today!

  • Ive died and gone to Heaven

  • Jupiter, my favorite planet, thanks for uploading!

  • i love the texture.. it's beautiful.. just a small dust in the universe..

  • so if i threw a match into jupiter will every part iof the atmosphere ignite?

  • It would take a while, but probably yes... IF Jupiter had some oxygen for the fire to breathe.

  • Epic. Just gotta wonder how much some of those extrasolar planets 10 times as heavy as Jupiter interact with their solar systems. Jupiter is friendly, but its cousins are probably a lot more evil...

  • jupiter has an immense gravity! but so does earth! earth has an extremely immense gravity actually! its our iron core that gives us such gravity! for such a small planet it holds a massive moon! our moon is 27% the size of our planet! thats massive! for size to gravity ratio, the earth has the greatest gravity of all the planets, including jupiter! imagine jupiter holding a mass in orbit 27% its size! lol.. no chance! Earth is such a special planet, unique in all aspects!!!

  • too bad pluto isnt a planet anymore because then it would be pluto

  • nice

  • sgt jelek,lambat

  • this was my planet project

  • The mass in total however is still 318 that of earth while you wouldnt feel that at the top clouds if you coud stand on it anyway.

The overall mass however does have 318 times that influence on other objects in space. Therefore jupiter threw out all those rocks centuries ago when they might have hit earth instead.

  • Jupiter has alot of mass. The problem is that the planet isnt dense enough. If you would squeeze all this mass (gasses) and atoms into a solid ball the planet would be much smaller. Definetely bigger then earth though. So what im trying to say is that because of its low density you would feel jupiters real gravity since you cant measure anything higher then 2,5 times that of earth when your orbiting this giant at a couple of hunderd thousand kilometres.

  • wow... just 9hrs to complete 1 rotation... things will be really in great rushes if humans will to be able to stay there, as compared to 24hrs on Earth... LOL....

  • the wierd thing about it is that jupiter's gravity is so intense yet it is only 2.5 times that of earth at it's cloudtops

  • Jupiter's BADASS!!!

  • Earth's protector!

  • But you also have to look at it this way: If it weren't for Jupiter, there would be no wars (no combatants would exist), no child molestation (no children to molest), no Muslim extremists (no muslims), and no traffic jams (there would be no traffic). So Jupiter is actually one cause for all of our world's problems! }; )>

  • Jupiter brings luck, it is Saturn that brings bad luck. Jupiter is the joy, Saturn is the malefic. Saturn's rings represent the limitations of life. Get the picture?

  • Get the picture. My comment above is meant to be facetious. If Jupiter didn't exist, we wouldn't have any problems because we almost certainly wouldn't exist. Of course the jovial planet is "lucky" for all those who prefer existence to non-existence (including me).

  • Cool

  • i love this huge ball of gas,

the sentinel song really fix it because jupiter actually protect us.

  • genial

  • Jupiter: My Fave Planet!

  • Jupiter, the shield of our solar system.

  • Life just wouldn't be the same without it! :O)

  • The bringer of luck and joy according to astrology ^_^. Also interesting since the western signs of the zodiac are equivalent to the chinese zodiac signs. For example, the year 2010 is the year of the Tiger which corresponds with Aquarius. Jupiter is moving into Aquarius, interesting huh?

  • Jupiter, our big brother in the solar system:)

  • Hi again what do you think of the possibility that Jupiter has been described as a sun that never had enough mass to ignite, Cheers

  • Yes, thats the theory, and i think a very good one. Though you would need a major amount of mass for that to happen. Jupiter just ran out of things to eat. As the majority of solar systems discovered so far are binary, then it stands to reason that Jupiter could have been our binary star. If that had happened, then you can imagine how different things would have been. All the best! :O)

  • Speaking of "masses". I was out last night with my wee telescope having a look at Betelgeuse, visible under Orion in N.Z . Impressive and to think that star would reach out past earth if it was in Sol's position boggles the mind and it is by no means the largest known star.

To think people are more interested in the nonsense of the 2012 idiocy, the true magnitude of the reality and beauty of our universe is just above our heads.

Do you know of any idiot proof manuals for building a dobsonian?

  • I totally agree!!! As for the dobsonian, i don't know myself. I do however, remember looking this up on the web a long time ago, and i did find some interesting sites. Search google for: build your own dobsonian. Hope that helps. :O)

  • u should be a teacher

  • @nzer48 ter nnnmm

  • @nzer48 ter nnnmm semua best

  • @AggManUK But there have been discoveries of extrasolar gas giants that are several times the size and mass of Jupiter. Do you think its because most of those orbit very close to their parent star that they become inflated or do you think that there being planets that are several times the mass of Jupiter somewhat disproves the theory?

  • Comment removed

  • No its to small

  • @nzer48 Most any object of sufficient size becomes a sun, or more accurately, a star; you could argue that any object that accrues (or even has) mass is a potential sun, requiring just between zero and one further solar masses to ignite. While it is also true that stardom is not inevitable for all large celestial objects, it is certainly a likely outcome.

  • this song fits jupiter so much. jupiter is my fav planet ! thanks for the vid man. oh and 1 more thing can you do a video on 1 of uranus's moons? thanks

  • So glad you enjoyed it! I will be making more in the winter, so you might see one then. :O)

  • Thank you very much for the answers, bobjg56 and AggManUK :).

    All the best!!

  • Hello AggManUK!

I have a little question about our night sky today. Is it in these time of the year that we can see Jupiter? Cause if i'm watching with my amateur telescoop to the most brightest star in our nightsky today (sometimes it's very close next our moon) i can see that this object has a very light red colour en there are 4 tiny dots around it (3 in the left and 1 in the right). Is this Jupiter or what is it?

    Kind Greetings,

    Timmy

  • Thats Jupiter alright....think the red colour comes from prob our crummy polution the four dots are the planets major moons... Lo, Europa, Ganymeade, and Callisto, the Gaililean moons, named after their discoverer Galileo

  • Thanks for the great answer whilst i was away! Your spot on! :O)

  • Hello again Timmy! :O) Sorry i was not around to answer your question, but i see it has been very well answered below. Something you really need is the software 'Stellarium'. It is totally FREE and you will know exactly where the Planets are from your location. I use it all the time to show my son Sol, all the night time objects. :O)

  • I watched your mars video

i've got the answer to the question

  • Which question was that one? :O)

  • why mars is red

  • LOL I have 1 Jupiter Year! Why is the Planet's red spot shrinking??? I thought 3 and a half Earths would fit in it!

  • Its the same as on Earth, when hurricanes form and dissipate. Only on Jupiter its measured in many years as to Earths matter of days. At the same time though, if some of the new storms that have appeared merge with the giant spot, it may just start growing again. :O)

  • Thx your vids are quite relaxing. If I could visit any planet and survive I think I would pick Jupiter.

  • Many thanks! I think i would go to the moon Enceladus. :O)

  • and i didn't know that the big red spot was shrinking and why before, but know i do and thanks for that information

  • Your very welcome! :O)

  • I heard jupiter's red spot is shrinking

    is that true and how

  • Your in luck, I have just answered that on these comments. :O)

  • yeah i just noticed it now, do u know why mars is red

  • Yeah, have a watch of the Mars video and that should explain it all. Think rust! :O)

  • I will do thanks

man you know a lot about astronomy

  • Thanks for upload this video!

I learned a lot watching your videos. D:

  • Thank you very much for watching and sharing my videos! I am thrilled that they enjoyed them!!! I will be doing more in the winter and black holes and galaxies are on my list of things to do. :O) What i have been doing with the little time i have is remastering the early videos. (The ones that are in low quality only). I have completed Mercury and Venus so far and i will start posting them soon. All the best and thank you so much! :O) All the best to you all from me and Birmingham UK.

  • I really enjoyed all of your videos but have u done a video like this but about mercury

  • Many thanks! Yes, there are all the Planets. If you want a sneak peek at the HD version of The Planet Mercury, then go to my other channel. AggManUKHD

    All the best! :O)

  • Great videos!! I have watched all of them and I truly enjoyed each one!

  • Thank you very much for watching and leaving the great comment! :O) All the best!

  • jupiter looks like the big fat boy with an eye.just sitting there staring at all the other planets.and rightfully so.

  • He's the daddy now! :O)

  • Tee Hee

  • brilliant work just watched the venus vid gonna watch this 1 now very factual

  • Thanks for watching them and the comment! All the best! :O)

  • Great music, facts and visuals! I really enjoy your work.

  • Many thanks for watching and the great comment! I am glad you enjoy them so much All the best! :O)

  • Wow, Ive watched most of your vids and I have to say well done. I loved astronomy as a little girl and now my little boy is getting right into it I, Ive remembered what it was about it I loved so much. Thank you for posting these vids, my boy will sure to watch them and learn a great deal!

Its marvellous to see whats out there and how small our little planet is compared to the others. Makes you wonder how we ever got here in the first place!

    Thanks :o)

  • Your very kind! Thank you very much for watching and the great comment! As you can see at the start of each video, they are for my son Sol, who is now 5 years old. I am glad to say he loves them too. :O) All the best! :O)

  • another great vid nice one

  • Another big thanks to you! :O)

  • Thank you very much!! Great vid. Jupiter is amazingly...

  • Many thanks for watching! All the best! :O)

  • the great red spot is loud

  • In more ways than one! :O)

  • Best space vids ever!

You really helped me with my schoolwork and it's really interesting.

    I have a question.

Scince Jupiter is spinning so rapidly, will it end up like a dvd disc with no hole in the middle(But MUCH larger)?

  • Your very kind! Thank you very much for watching!

As for your question: No, it will keep to the shape it is now really. You have to remember how many other gravitational bodies pull on the planet, to many to mention. All the best! :O)

  • Remember, in case it does it will turn into a giant double quarter pounder (because Jupiter always makes me hungry!) ^_^

  • Wicked video about a real interesting subject. I always thought Jupiter was the most fascinating planet, because of its size.

  • Thank you very much for watching and leaving the great comment! :O) All the best!

  • Oh no problem.I should thank you, good video.alot of great info

  • All the best! what? Oh, it's your trademark, sorry! lol

Now, now, now.....if Jupiter is a bit more bigger, it could be labelled as a brown dwarf, a sign of failed star where the nuclear fusion did not occur. If it does, then the solar system would have two stars.

The moons Io and Europa holds very curious tidbits yet to be discovered despite Voyueur, Galileo and New Horizons' analysis. Ganymede and Callisto are good to be explored. Good video. All the best, ha ha ha.

  • ATB. Its the Irish farewell thing in me! :O)

  • I give 5 stars for this video, really amazing and thanks for the share.....

I just realized that Jupiter is a gas giant, differ from earth, Venus, Mars, Mercury, that they consists of rocks, but Jupiter is different, some books says that Jupiter is a miniature of the solar system and somewhat a failing development of Sun.

  • Thank you very much for watching and leaving the great comment! :O) It is often referred to as a minature solar system. It was also close to being a star, but one thing you should remember is that it would still take a whopping amount of mass before that happened. All the best!

  • very nice music

  • Thanks for watching! All the best! :O)

  • I really enjoy your videos!

  • Thank you very much for watching them and leaving the comment! :O) All the best!

  • niiiice excorsist music!

  • At 1:34, is it my imagination, or do I see a faint hexagonal shape to the circumpolar clouds? It's not as clear as at Saturn. I wonder if any atmospheric models predict this behavior.

  • I see what your saying. It's a bit hard to tell. When i zoom in on the centre of the original image, it actually looks more like a flower. It is easy for images to get distorted though. Who knows? I don't think anyone expected to see it on Saturn, and to my knowledge i don't think anyone can explain it. All the best! :O)

  • Everytime I watch this video it reminds me of a royal carnival with those horsie-go-round rides while this song is playing. It really does, especially the last part. From 06:00 to beyond just sounds luxurious..

  • It's a wonderful piece of music alright!

  • perfect for a royal kingly planet indeed! :)

  • Mabye humans might one day move to Europa. I forget which planet Europa belongs to. Europa is a moon of one of the planets.

  • Yes, this planet you're watching! :)

  • Europa is one of the 4 large moons of the planet Jupiter. (There are over 60, but most are small though) :O) I doubt if we would ever live there, but Europa could be a great place for a pitstop to other planets and moons. Then again, who knows what could happen in 1 or 2 hundred years. We might be so advanced that we could indeed live there. Imagine waking up everyday with Jupiter outside your window? Wicked! :O)

  • i doubt it though, because one of its moons is so volcanic that when the lava and smoke is released into space, the radiation gets trapped in the magnetisfield, causing the particles to orbit the planet. since that moon has erupted so many times, the radiation levels would be catastrophic. so 10 minutes without any clothes or protective equipment and your toast! even a few hours with the most advanced space suit would kill you in a couple of hours. so we would have to have huge doses of radaway!

  • Jupiter always looked poisonous ever since anyways...chance of life ON it? nope...around it? possibly on one of the moons like Europa. Although I think Jupiter was created to protect Earth from asteroids and other objects headed our way perhaps? Because Jupiter is so fat it probably absorbs so many particles from its moons...

Also, Io might have an important role in volcanic activities you're talking about. Jupiters magnetic field might attract most of its moons atmospheres perhaps?

  • I agree, though i did say 1 to 2 hundred years into the future. Who knows what type of protection we will have then? As you have pointed out though it will have to be really good!!!

Lol, Radaway! Great comment, great game! All the best! :O)

  • why didn't Jupiter become a star with 90% hidrogen 10% helium ?

  • There just wasn't enough mass whilst it was forming. It did come close though! It would still take an amazing amount of mass before it became a Star. :O( All the best! :O)

  • Interesting, what if a gas giant had the reverse which is 10% hydrogen and 90% helium? If possible, how would the planet be?

  • Does this mean that is one day, something so horrific might happen to planet Earth, that we might be forced to leave, can Jupiter be the planet? I mean it has water, 61 moons, and idk about the sun :S, but still, geologically we might be able to live there, though that planet is pretty big, and it has no air.

  • The planet Earth will die one day i am afraid. This will happen as the Sun dies. So any life on Earth would have to leave and find a new home.

I can assure you it wont be the planet Jupiter though, as this is a gas giant. Maybe one of its moons? Though this still might be too close to the diying Sun. So a better place might be one of Saturn's moons. I would be looking at Titan, as by then the atmosphere would be very different. Thanks for the interesting comment! All the best. :O)

  • Hmmm, I guess I should study Titan. Thanks for your reply!

  • I watched all your videos. EXCELLENT WORK. THANK YOU!

  • Your very kind for taking the time! Thank you very much for watching and the great comment! All the best! :O)

  • do they ever bring back the space probes?

  • Not unless designed to collect samples. Most probes will just keep giving data until they break down. All the best!

  • AggMan, i must say, im very impressed with your videos, I just finished watching them all, and I applauded. You have just sparked what I think is the next big thing in my evergrowing hunger for knowledge, and that is astronomy. Over the past 2 days, I've been cramming in al lthis new information from Mars and such. Its just mindblowing and I cnat get enough of it. Please continue to keep posting videos! Im subscribing as we speak! Excuse the typos, its very late and im exhausted.

  • Thank you very, very, very much for watching all of my videos and leaving such a great comment! Your very kind. :O) I am really busy at the moment, but i will be back with some new videos in the future. All the best! :O)

  • I have a question for you. I'm recently starting to get very interested in other planets and such. If Jupiter is just a gas giant, does that mean one could fal lright through the entire planet without hitting one solid part? Thanks in advance!

  • It depends what you mean by solid i guess. There is no surface to stand on so to speak, but Jupiter has a molten core. So in theory you could pass a object through the planet if it could survive all the conditions. :O)

  • Ahh okay, so say i went into the infamous "God mode" like out of video games, and flew over to jupiter and just started free falling right into the center of the planet. If I couldn't die or anything, I would literally just pass right through the entire planet? Is it the same for Saturn as well?

  • If you ignore gravity as well of course, then yes you would go straight through. By rights, this would include Saturn, Uranus & Neptune too. :O) The surface of the solid planets, is classed as the surface you can walk on. But with the gas & ice giants, the surface is usually referred to as the point where the atmospheric pressure exceeds one bar. Hope this helps? All the best! :O)

  • interesting..so the gas giants atmospheres are literally its surfaces

  • Well right now yes, but theres not enough evidence to say for 100% sure. There is a possibility that Jupiter for instance has a rocky core mantle. The majority of scientists belive that it is molten though.

So for now, the surface is classed as the atmosphere, or cloud tops so to speak.

  • Interesting point. A surface doesn't have to mean a rocky solid layer, but can be anything like gas or liquid (like our ocean right?)..

Anyways if humans were to congest helium they would be fat, just like Jupiter and the sun. Also did I tell you about how each planet associates with a body function in medical astrology? Jupiter associates with the fats and the bodily toxins..very interesting...

  • Jupiter reminds me of a triple cheeseburger sandwich or some kind of chocolate dessert. Anyhow, Jupiter IS a fat planet lol..

  • It always reminds me of a marble i used to have when i was a kid. :O)

  • Great video, congrats!

But why do you say that the last image is the best ground based image of Jupiter?

  • I remember it was once voted the best ground based image many years ago. I still think it holds the title today as it is not only a beautiful image, but gives us loads of information on how jupiter is built. Thank you very much for watching and leaving the great comment! :O) All the best!

  • that was awesome thanks!

  • Thank you very much for watching and leaving the great comment! :O) All the best!

  • Amazing video, love it. Btw do you create this vid all by yourself, or do you take it from somewhere else and add some information on it

  • I work out what information i want to put in my videos, then I find and edit TV shows and video to cut out the parts i want to use and then remove the audio. Then i put them all together with the music i choose so it flows the way i want, and add the information in on top. Thats it really. Thanks for asking! :O) All the best!

  • Beautiful vidoe of the king of planets. As always, great work.

  • Thanks for taking the time to watch so many of my videos! All the best! :O)

  • I want to see how Jupiter looks from inside, I just can't imagine how a planet made of gas could be.

  • Maybe one day we can send a probe in that lasts longer than the last one. It will never get to core though. :O( All the best! :O)

  • maybe the interior looks like a metallic sea with raging thunderstorms everywhere..who knows? But that's just my imagination..

  • so.. is its magnetosphere visible to the naked eye from earth?

i don't know if i sound stupid so sorry if i do.

  • Of course you don't sound stupid! It is a very good question!!! The answer is not to the naked eye though, which is a shame. :O( If it was, then it would be larger than the Sun in the sky. Now that would have been really cool. :O) Thanks for watching and the great comment! All the best! :O)

  • Eerily beautiful.

  • Thanks for watching! All the best! :O)

  • Very good all. It´s exellent.... clear & very easy to understend.... Very good

  • Thanks for watching and the great comment! All the best! :O)

  • Thx for posting AggManUK

  • Your very welcome! Thanks for watching. :O)

  • That was a good video! educational, entertaining, awe inspiring! 5/5

  • Your very kind! Thank you very much for watching and the great comment! All the best! :O)

  • Good presentation... clear and easy to understand

  • Many thanks for watching and the great comment! All the best! :O)

  • Great Planet! Nice song! All your songs match the planets personality, like it always does in astrology! ^_^ Especially for a planet like Jupiter with a "godly" royal song..

  • Mike Oldfields songs really go well with space. :O) Many thanks!
