  • its a beautiful fish but the brightness is killing my eyes

  • how is it fake dumbass

  • You obviously have never heard of or seen an oarfish before.

  • If it's fake, where is everybody getting all of these goddamn fake oarfish? I want one!

  • I work at the Wrigley Marine Science Center where this Oarfish was filmed/taken. It was 16 ft long and was seen swimming around the harbor for a couple of hours before it stuck itself into the side of the pier. We decided to remove it from the water when it showed almost no signs of life. It took 5 people to haul it out of the water. I had the pleasure of pulling this magnificent fish out, and we promptly froze it in our kitchen's freezer. It is now on display at the Natural History Museum.

  • They have one of these on display at the aquarium in Fukuoka, uminonakamichi.

  • that fish just looked at me...

  • that is so increadibly beautiful. It's to bad that we (you know like people) only get to see them when there either dead, or dying. It really is to bad. . . but woohoo! the oarfish is my favorite fish :))

  • well said

  • It's dead to bad:( they just put it in the water...

  • I have heard that it is so shiny because its skin is entirely made of Guanine.

    The Stuff of DNA.

The same substance that gives a pearl its lustre.

  • 1. its only this shiny because of the sun

    2. its about to die. u need to know this (they only come up to the serface of the water to die.)

    3. they are rare

    4. they are more rare to catch on tape alive (usually they are dead on tape)

    5. they are the longest fish in the sea

    6. people think that they are sea monsters most of the time

    7. they are harmless. they have no teath

have fun with this new information about the oarfish.

its REALLY beautiful and makes me sad to know that it will die!

  • 1. its big

    2. its shining

    3. its spinning O_O

  • that is amazing, nice work recording it. it looks kinda like an eel, but i know it is an oarfish

  • First time I see it in horizontal position and on the bottom. Very spectaculair images.

  • that just makes u wonder wat other stuff is down there in the ocean

  • exactly... and then i feel a shiver up my spine!

  • That thing is as magnificent as it is huge...

    A truly amazing sight.

  • it's dying. they said it comes from the deep ocean and only comes up to shallow water to die.

  • So weird!!! But nothing freaks me out like a giant squids eyes!!!

  • Dead fish are cool under normal conditions. Yet left in the sun they are hot, believe me. I have two nickels is that normal?

  • they are huge but flat.keep one for a pet when you catch one lol.

    Strange fish are very rare

  • thats a super good deal cause that fish worth nothing

  • poor fishy :(

  • looks retarded

  • actually, it looks DEAD.

  • i saw this 1 video it says that it could be this fish - or a sea dragon!! I REALLY wanna believe its a dragon cause dragons r AWESOME!!! but i no its not really a dragon...

  • HUGE!Thats one big oarfish!

  • It's amazing! So beautiful...

  • Cool check out my channel I got all the oar fish videos on youtube.

  • It's so beautiful and sad.. those things don't survive near the surface very well and this one was laying on the bottom in shallow water horizontally... they're usually vertical in the water. This one is obviously close to death. It's so sad to see such a majestic creature so close to its end.

  • yeah it's sad indeed. But most footage of living individuals consists of dying ones.

  • Wow this was filmed in 2008!

  • one of these fish would from to the surface every 3 yrs in my village(in vietnam)we live at da beach./and it dies/same with one dolphin it sometimes die when u comes to our beach we try keeping it alive/i got struck!!by danm jellyfish it hurts!!for 3 weeks

  • i like how the light reflected off of it. SO SHINY!! :D

  • The world's waters, at their deepest in the Marianas Trench, is 7 miles deep, deeper than Mt. Everest is tall. Trieste was a Swiss-designed deep-diving research bathyscaphe ("deep boat") with a crew of two people, which reached a record-breaking depth of about 10,900 m (about 35,760 ft) in 1960. Nothing since has come close to getting to that depth! Of COURSE there's stuff down there we'll never to see or will rarely see. Aliens could live down there in their space-proof UFOs. We'll NEVER know.

  • Its so awesome...i had to do a project on oarfish a couple years ago, it is dying b/c they come near the surface of the water when theyre dying, they live REALLY deep down in the ocean.

  • It looks dying :( I'd love to see more videos of live ones.

  • wooo... shiny!

  • Are they still around?

  • Yes

they live in the deep waters with the angler fish and the goblin shark

  • that thing looks sick....

  • It is. When they go to shallow water, they die.

  • all zoo in the US need to raise this fish so ppl can see it

  • beautifullllllllll

  • this is by far the best oarfish video I have seen on the net!

  • Cool - never seen one alive before.

  • 凄い!!!!
