  • had the honor of seeing (and hearing!) him live with rat race choir in NYC in '87, in addition to 3 who concerts ('79, '82, '97).

will never ever forget the way his solo's sounded in person.

the best way to describe it is an explosion of sound... the ox was a badass!

  • wow nice

  • No one can beat The Ox !

  • R.I.P

  • HMMM. Heavist The Who song I've ever heard.

  • Well he did try to finger a girl once, unfortunately she died.

  • From 1:07 it just looks like he's bullying the bass.

  • I didn't know John was in Dream Theater circa 1994

  • Wow, so that's where Nintendo got that lick for the rock-ghost boss in Mario Galaxy

  • For those who are not aware if it:

Jean-Jacques Burnel, bass player for the stranglers, is really up there with the all time great bassists imo. Check out the first album they did and listen to that growl on 'Sometimes' or 'Down in The Sewer'!

  • YEAH , BUT STILL .....

WHO THE HELL ARE THE REST OF THESE GUYS

WITH HIM ON THIS KILLER "HORROR-ROCK" DIDDY ?

  • @17SPIKE17

That's the John Entwistle Band - Google 'em to find Web site, they toured regularly between Who tours - excellent and without a doubt THE loudest club band I've ever heard, which figures considering John (and Keith, his closest mate in The Who) was the main reason for The Who's legendary insistence on playing so loudly.

  • SO , "WHO" THE F&*^$% ARE THE REST OF THESE GUYS WITH THE OX ?

    (NO PUN INTENDED) !

  • Pete was real lucky to have John in the band.........real lucky

  • @whyyeseyec John got Pete into the original Who... Orignally Roger was the lead guitarist.

  • The way he uses his strumming fingers from 1:10 to 1:20 is really fun to watch. I don't remember seeing another bassman do this.

  • A simply amazing bass player. Very much the unsung hero in the Who. What a waste of talent. RIP John E

  • John Entwistle voted, "bassist of the millenium", enough said.

  • He was THE MAN, the best ever... Rest in peace John...

  • Well written CSVE, as a guy who thumped a bass through college, I RESPECT how well he played!

  • Nothing could compare and nothing can l compare to John. Saw him live once with The Who. Can't forget. Nothing compares. Outstanding. Amazing. Out of words. I play bass myself. Off course; John is the guiding star:)

  • NOW YOU'RE TALKIN'. I love Horror Rock. It's one of my favorite Entwistle compositions. RIP Thunderfingers.

  • Cool channel you've created on you tube man! John deserve all respect! Steve Harris and Billy Sheehan got a lot of him in their styles and says always how they love The Ox! Cheers!

  • @ThunderfingersFan3 I love Thunderfingers, too, but gotta say the closest I get to "Horror Rock" is "Borris the Spider" lol

  • i love this guy he totally makes the Who

  • 1:16... looks completely bored then busts loose with some intense shit!

God, I loved ya OX! Thanks for breaking down the barriers we bassist are expected to sit quietly behind... yea... why does the bass have to sit in the background following the rhythm? Nah, Ox taught us it's ok to go all off!

  • Yeah all right! The Ox put the bass guitar in a place where nobody couldn't imagine: as a soloing instrument but in all music that he played! He's the greatest !

  • Horror Rock. good Song

  • it was called horror rock because it left the audiance dead... haha... his bass nearly killed me through my computer... in person, theres no survivors...

  • Yeah dude! John is a real legend in the music! The Ox will live forever and his mega atomic fuzz tone is unique and outstanding like he use to be!

  • I've heard some of the JEB shows would start with "Heaven and Hell", and I'd love the audio from that.

  • I think it's from Whitsle Ryhmnes his 3rd solo LP 1972-73

  • The John Entwistle Band used to start every show with this song. It has a great prog rock feel to it.

  • The song is by The John Entwistle Band, performing one of John's compositions "Horror Rock". Drummer Steve Luongo went on to put together a band called "TorQue", and the CD "103103" has this song along with a combination of instrumentals that Steve wrote with guitarist Mark Hitt. (Both Steve and Mark are in "TorQue", they were once part of another great progressive rock band called "Rat Race Choir".)

Steve Luongo eulogized John Entwistle at his funeral, they were close friends.

  • To reply to Harotoast - it started off sounding like "What about the boy?" from "Tommy", but after that I'm not sure.

  • John sempre arregaça com tudo!!! Que descanse em paz velho mestre!

  • pois é

  • Vary Crazy !!! Thats Crazy Song !!!

Muito BOM !!!! Puta composição pirada !!

  • yea im tryin to get this song

  • Horror Rock

  • what song is this?
