So I'm trying to understand this. The dog is dressed up as a yeti and scaring others for fun and eventually befriends the cat. The dog later wants to be friends as it is, and not in the costume. Fails at revealing herself. The real yeti reveals itself soon after. The three then become friends through a relatively humourous and touching misunderstanding?

Hi, I think you understand the story right. The dog girl would sneak away from home in the costume to scare others while her mother thinks she was ill and in bed. She wants Komaneko to like her as the way she is, not as a yeti so, I suppose, that's why she dislikes the yeti doll, presented by Komaneko, and threws it out of the window.

I'm very much proud of this Japanese production and will definitely show this one to my kids in the future!!! I adore both Komaneko's sweetness and the girl dog's shyness, hope they will be good friends for good...
