I could have bought your engine instead of blowing it up. I have 340 and looking for to get different 340 because my old one got big hole in the crankhousing. I can put new top end rebuild and use it in my enticer. That 340 is a great engine and never end up something. Most reliable engine ever built by Yamaha! Sounds like you had a bad luck with it right?

Take off all the cooling shrouds that surround the heads and jugs and If ya feel like it, bust the fins off on the flywheel too, then snip the oil pump cable so it gets minimum oil but still some. It WILL sear nicely this way.
