For anyone who wants to see more, look up the Korean drama The Snow Queen. Similar story with a much thicker plot. Almost seems like a remake of this story.

Oh Lord do I love this movie, "Do not leave me in this dark alone, for I cannot find you. I cannot live without my life, I cannot die without my soul" OMG, Sobbing!! The words are so deep with love and grief, who wouldn't just swoon hearing that?
The fact that this movie, made in b&w in 1939, still moves people...amazing. THIS is good movie making. No violence, no sex, no cussing. And here we are, all these years later, still moved by it.
That scene has to be one of the most moving in history...I like my action films like anyone else but that,,,,,,,is absoloutley fantastic..We are well blessed to still have on film actor such as Laurence Olivier who alas are no longer with us but can perform like that.....
The spiritual energy this scene generated is beyond words, almost timeless yet so down to earth. Everytime I see it it reaches into the very depth of my Soul.
This is the kind of acting..music and movie making the world has lost. Thankyou

Olivier and Oberon are both marvelous actors(all the more because they were on very bad terms in reality...)and music, filming, adaptation are also perfect.
This is the greatest romantic film ever created! The music, the casting, everything was pure perfection. Even if it did not follow the book quite exactly, I believe it captured the intensity Bronte intended.
