Ahhh, the fine art of dancing with a KLR. I love taking my 2008 off the pavement, it will climb anything so long as I can stay on top of it. The only area I have trouble is sand, which is understandable.
You seen the new 2008 & up? They addressed that issue along with many others of the KLR series. Rider input was seriously implemented. The looks are awkward but it grows on you after time, though I will still admit, it looks goofy, but then again that goofy fairing does give excellent MPG.
@jojothedog1234 YUP. Nothing better. You got any better ideas? well.. The dr650 drz400.. but you can't get to the trails in any condition to ride. We're not motocrossing out there.
@jojothedog1234 my klr is tuned very well with some go fast parts and a fork brace. and i do enduro events and go single track ridding w/ my buddies (all of who have new ktms) and i keep up just fine. any bike poorly tuned is a crappy bike regardless of the price tag
@jojothedog1234 you have no clue what the KLR was intended for! Get on one and ride it for a few hours on the highway, then get off on a logging road and screw around trails for another couple hours, hitting some mud along the way. Can't do that on a dirtbike
Nice try, that hill was pretty steep. Plus that bike is a tank. Keep trying, you'll get better. I climbed many hills on my klr, it just takes practice.
Scotty: I'm giving her all she's got, Captain!
Kirk: All she's got isn't good enough!

nice plastic tank. all that extra gas probably throws off the balance if its full.

@Oddman1980 for sand just go real fast and shift your weight more towards the back tire to take away the wobble

you would have to keep going if you stop on a hill like that with a 2 stroke your most likely going to get stuck
