Some of the greatest guitarists in the world use Strats with overdrive/distortion/crunch. Granted its probably a better sound, however we are listening to a PC speaker recording here....

n my opinion the standard is better, the only thing that it lacks that this guitar has is the s1 switching and no hum but the standard has a better edge and tone

Definately not, its just as loud (through an amp, obviously) as my american standard.

it all depends on what kind of music your band plays. if you play mostly blues and old school rock and roll, then this guitar is for you. If you are into metal, neoclassical shred, or any kind of modern rock, you'll deffinetly need to swap the pick ups for something that growls.

by quiet i think whoever told you that means that there isn't any fuzz or buzzing noise that you get with some guitars. by no means does this mean you can't jack the volume up the same as you would with any other guitar. i have this guitar and it is by no means quiet lol. anyways, there is nothing wrong with distortion on a strat. i might have used a little more reverb or delay but whoever says strats are just for clean is crazy. jimi hendrix anyone??? distortion was born on the strat

A deluxe comes with a Fender noiseless guitar cable 6 foot, strap locks, a nice leather strap made in Canada, some tools, a nice guide, hardshell case, ect. I have one and Love it, but ALOT of people say about changing the pickups?? I didn't understand at first, but I might change 'em now. That "noiseless" shit sucks alot of that "tubey, bluesy" tone out of your playin'. Not a sure thing yet, but I might put some super hot bastards in it instead of the noiseless.

Most american guitars such as gibson and fender has been so lenient the past few decades ignoring their own research and development when it comes to better sound. Most guitar virtuosos prefer japanese brands such as ibanez, tokai, esp etc.... One great rule in guitar playing is "having a more expensive guitar does not mean you are and you will be a better player"

Ibanez can't get that fender sound, no one can. Im with you in that they have been slacking for a while but there are some things that can't be mimicked. Just like fender could probably never get a good shred guitar like ibanez or esp. That's why modern players use them ps, they have faster necks. Not bceause they have a better sound, every guitar has a good sound to someone. Keep that in mind

I just bought a HSS american deluxe strat and the SCN's are great. Wide range of tone, great sounding pickups. Coupled with the humbucker, any tone is possible.

iv just ordered a set of samarium noiseless pickups for my usa standard strat,,,they aint come yet,,,just hope they sound better than my stock pickups.

They probably will. The names are confusing, though. The Standard is made in Mexico, and the pickups have ceramic magnets and sound rather thin. The American Standard, though, is made in USA, and has pickups with Alnico V magnets, which have a much fuller, nicer sound.

The neck and center pickups are the stock noiseless pick ups that come with a deluxe strat. The bridge has been swapped out for a seymore duncan JB4.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing since so many folks say the other coils sound better. I beginning to see a pattern! :)
