  • I put my litter box in the spot that she goes in all the time and she changed her spot about 3 times! Now she is doing it right in front of the cage door and i cante put the litter box there so i put it beside but still... nothing.

  • I have had my rabbit for 3 weeks now and have started litter training him he does do the occasional poo but other than that he's doing fine :)

  • Ive had a bunny for a few weeks now and im trying to litter train it, most of the times it will pee in the bocx, otherwise itll do it on the newspaper in its cage, and its again begining to poop in another side of its cage!! very annoyed, it does use it box but it dosent at the same time, it picks and chooses, im using a wood based pellet litter

  • My girlfriend and i were planning on getting a bunny together, but we didnt want to cage it up, i was wondering if it were a possibility to litter train it well enough it didnt need a cage, and if the rabbit would be comfortable just roaming the room and sleeping on a fluffy cushion? or would i be better off investing in a smaller cage for when im not around and let it out when i am there? I will be with the rabbit most of my time except during school.

  • @MegaPlanelover its best to buy a cage because if the bunny is going to chew the box and the paint can harm your bunny and it will stink really bad too

  • @MegaPlanelover

I agree with Chibigoober.. lol even though its a nice idea,,

you should probably get an actual wooden hutch or indoor cage, a good size as they need room, or the rabbit will get very stressed and bored. And get it all ready so everything is prepared before you get your rabbit. :) If you make it out of cardboard, it will pee inside it and it will probably smell real bad and soak through the box, it will chew it up and yeah, the paint will probz be harmful to your bunny. Gudluck.

  • yesterdays new litter is amazing. it doesn't smell and is 100%RECYLCED NEWSPAPER

  • And another thing is that the rabbit will more than likely chew the box and tear it in little peices to make a nice little bed out of it. And if it eats any of the paint it can be harmful to it. So although it was creative of you to make it i would advise not to use it....

  • Respond to this video... Ummm....Megaplanelover......You cant make a home for a rabbit out of a cardboard box.....first off it the rabbits pees the cardboard will absorb it and eventually it will need to be cleaned which when you try to do that the cardboard will fall apart from the moisture.

  • #1

  • when they are done, doing #1, and #2-ing, do I cover it with other litter stuff? and at the end of the day, toss everything out, clean the tray, and add new stuff?

  • litter training is easy, with my rabbit I let him choose where he wanted to go basically. he naturally went tp a corner of the room and pee'd there, so from then on, I put the tray there and he hasn't been to the toilet anywhere else. Just that one accident at the very beginning and that was it.

  • DOES NEWSPAPER WORK?

  • @2andahalfnoobs I use a newspaper too! cuz i actually don't have any experience in adopting rabbits so i didn't know wat else 2 use. . .

  • Whutz the hay she said to put on the litter box?

  • @97Katy Timothy hay. :)

  • timothy hay

  • @leahbrenty yes, what about it?

  • bunnys are cuuute

  • help? my bunny uses the litter box, but she poops everywhere else as well. i put her food next to the litter box, and she sits in it ALL THE TIME and just eats and does he business as well as sleeps. what do i do to make her poop ONLY in the litter box, but spend time outside of it as well and know to go in there to do its business???

  • i got the pee part pretty much down.... just not the poop. they crap alll over the place :)

  • @shasha8227 can rabbits learn to pee ONLY in the litterbox? how do u lessen the foul smell?

  • @3333sweetie pour plain white vinegar in a spray bottle and cover the affected area. if you still smell pee then cover it with an air freshner like febreeze.

  • al i did was put a tray of litter in the cage put some of the poo in it they smell what it is n go there rabbits r very tidy animals they always go in the same spot if they can

  • i have the same type as litter box they show in that but how do i put the hay in it just goes through the wire should i take the wire off or what? someone plzanswer

  • Hi. I have kind of a silly question for you guys but i just wanted to make sure, can you use the new kind of litter they have made of corn? Or will it harm them in any way?

  • inhellit?lol

  • @me51you LOL

  • how long does it take to litter train a rabbit i am trying to litter train my rabbit. . . . will cat litter work? i am not sure if it will

  • @seanimallover4ever

NO, do NOT use cat litter, it brings respiratory infections.

  • Not all organic litters are good, conifer shavings can really affect the rabbit health and cause serious breathing problems with the time. Best thing is compressed newspaper, it's not toxic nor volatile and very absorbent.

  • Hey.. I think it dosen't really worked for the most bunny we had..

  • I trained my Rabbit By putting the timothy hay in a bag clip and tied it to the back of the littler box. So in order for him to eat it he had to sit in the littler box.

He is well litter trained other than he does leave a few presents hear and there put no urine so that's the major plus.

  • omg the black and hite one looks just like the one i just bought!!!

  • yea but the question is what do u do with a rabbit that just goes everywhere not in just one corner? lol

  • it is that in uk

  • My bunny Frank is a young dwarf and ive only had him for 3 days. so far he goes to the bathroom everywhere in the cage. i tried the timothy hay in the litter box, and i put all of his messes in the box after he makes them, but he uses the litter box as a bed instead =/ when i tried moving the box to where he poops the most he then will poop on the opposite side instead.

so what should i do to help?

  • my bunny is doing the same....help =\

  • @0NEVERHIDE0 you can try to put hay in it or near to it. so he can eat it when he is in the box.

  • my bunny gose in all corners of her hutch lol there is no stopping her!

  • She should learn to say INHALE in the video she said inhell

  • ???? tahts weeerd

  • alot of people said rabbits eat and poop/pee, but mine is diferrent! i tried to put hay on the litter box and she made it as her bed, then pee/poo everywhere

  • my pet bunny generally goes to the toilet in her litter tray in her cage, but when i bring her down to the dining room to run around she poos everywhere! and wees on the sofa :S is there any way i can get her to use her litter tray downstairs? i tried leaving it there but she just kicked all the pellets out :( thanks :) x

  • to litter train my rabbit, i kept her in a cage for the first couple months that i owned her so she got used to peeing and pooping in there. then i let her run free around the house like a dog or a cat. i took the bars off the cage (so it was just a tray) and she naturally used the tray to go to the bathroom. i also kept her food in the tray. sometimes she'll pee in certain corners to mark her territory but other than that i've never had any problems with her :).

  • didn ur rabbit bite on any wires? cause if i let mine run freely, she'd bite but not pee and poop.

  • she never seemed interested in chewing anything. she has one of those gnaw sticks for her teeth but she's never taken a liking to anything else.

  • @rccahay I see.. How about mine, i keep my rabbit in my cage for a whole year! But they never understand.. And when i put them out of the cage, guess what? They run around like a very curious bunny that was afraid that they pee everywhere.. How can your bunny be train?!

  • @Wihpri77 let your bunny get used to running around free. take her out with you to get her comfortable if she's too scared to go out on her own, or maybe coax her out with some yogurt treats so she won't be so shy.

  • @Wihpri77 i kept my rabbit for 1 hour in her cage and he is littertrained.

they pee and poop to mark there tertorium the first time.

  • @hannanasje1987 What's a "tertorium"? And shouldn't it be "their" instead of "there"? Sorry, don't mean to nit pick. Your comments are really helpful, thanks for the interaction!!!!

  • @catchifyoucan232 i speak dutch. sorry for the english :)

i don't know what you call teretorium but i can try to explain it.

they pee and poop in the room to let 'others' know that this is where he lives

  • @rccahay

So I put their food in the litter box ( with a food bowl) however I don't really feel comfortable when they are "eating" in their bathroom. Though this trained them to pee in the liter box. Pooping seemed more difficult to get them understand. Could you give me any suggestions? 'Cause they are constantly (almost) pooping, so I thought they have difficulty holding it till getting to their bathroom, until I heard that u could also train them to poop in the litter box.

  • @Norie1115 rabbits don't know the difference whether their eating in their bathroom or not... and if they do then they don't care. i'd suggest you keep them around their litterbox more often. maybe put a guinea pig house up (like one of the igloos or the arches made of logs) so they can establish a favorite spot in the house. their favorite spot will almost always be where they poop and pee most often. when rabbits get excited they will poop pellets non-stop regardless of how you trained them.

  • @rccahay Thanks, I didn't understand it at first, but later on i tried building a wooden tunnel on top of her potty pen, and she started to like it and would spend most of her time in there.

Conclusion: making a spot their favorite and train them there to get used to potty pen.

  • @rccahay does she pee in the litterbox? how do u deal with the foul urine smell?
