the "some old guy" wasnt a former gymnast in this movie or the book, the author is dan millman lol he based it on his own life which you can google The winner of the 1964 World Trampoline Championship in London, he co-captained the 1968 NCAA University of California gymnastics team that was after his accident, do some research

@chrisweb037 Lol thank god, it was painful seeing all the wrong versions of that quote, i'm glad someone had there head screwed on. Best film ever, I watch the Pommel scene, training scene and ending scene like every morning. So much inspiration in this film!
