god how i love Paul Westerberg. I hope he tours again. I need to see him live. In fact out of all singer-songwriters/bands I need to see before I die, I need to see him.
In terms of construction--circular acoustic guitars--it reminds me of The Rolling Stones' "Sweet Black Angel". Never could understand the chorus though. Kentucky rising? Keep on rising? Can't make it out.
I'm mad. I bought this album on a computer I had a while back. Then when I was gone at school, the thing broke and my 'rents junked it! I love these songs, thanks for uploading some of them
how in the fuck did this turn into a gender war, jesus christ.... did someone seriously make the claim that women<men in music b/c he has "almost no CDs by women" and "mostly hundreds by men?" my head spins at this culture of ours....
anyways this song is GOLD. the harmonies are so gorgeously rhythmic, & the melody fits so perfectly over them. oh paul, how can someone be so good at rocking AND crooning?
60sbest....I don't know, something about the rhythm of the guitar and the singing style. If I close my eyes I could picture Davey Jones with his tamborine singing this song.
Is it me, or does this song have a strong Monkees vibe to it? and I don't mean that to sound negative. I'm a big fan of theirs and so is Paul. Great song.
@machbaby Probably. Paul liked the Monkees and does " I'm a believer" in concert. I don't like the Monkees either .. hmm what in particular is that vibe .. just curious as I don't feel the Monkees vibe. What song by the damn band does it sound most like? Sorry for being such a bother... ha.
Long Live Paul Westerberg. Something about his music makes me not even care what the right answer is to everything. Love music, paul, women, and everyone from every religion.
Buffalo Springfield, Neil young, early elvis costello, graham parker and the rumor, marshall crenshaw, david bowie, the beatles, smokey robinson, gerry and the pacemakers, the animals, and how long do I have before I get to The Pretenders to find a woman who could write. I have a friend who likes Tori Amos and well she's got talent but my freind can compose better then her (well he told me so). Like Vladimar, I'm out of here (Waiting for Godot).
KEEP THE HEAT UP, Also when it comes to mate/date selections women are biologically hardwired to be a lot fussier then men.
I have so many ideas and books in my head but I will die with only my friends appreciating me. Favorite Replacements Song - Left of the Dial. This song is great .. listened to it 3 times know and Paul I love you man .. keep on wearing you heartfeltbeautiful heartonyoursleeve . I love the replacements. I used to love women too .. sad. But they are not insightful ...
BRING ON THE HATE. Maybe they should have pills to shrink women down ? Man, Paul Westerberg your songs with the Replacements were great and then you lost it (what do I know) but this is a nice little comeback CD - nice song - no it wouldn't make it on to any Replacements CDs but what songs can ?
yEAH IF WOMEN HAD GOOD TASTE AND LIKE THE REPLACEMENTS I WOULD THE TALK OF THE TOWN AND THE LADIES WOULD BE LINING UP TO BE WITH ME EVEN IF I WAS ONLY AVERAGE DOWN THERE. please keep the hate coming
Look! The Replacements maybe my fav band (replaced Neil Young - I'm talking Buffalo Springfield days too) and this CD will be overlooked as too much genius is. What kind of world is this when Brittany Spears is on everyones slippery tongue and The Replacements are just a fleeting memory. If women had better taste in music I'd get all the dates whereas they like Rolling Stone slop from 1972 on. Nice to have you back Paul.
That's funny, I've always said that about most women. Something about them makes them drawn to mass conformity especially when it comes to music. But most off the girls who do have good taste are usually kinda strange, so it's sort of a trade off. LET THE HATEFULL REPLIES BEGIN.
BRING ON THE HATE Yeah it's sad but true that I have almost no CDs bY women but mostly hundreds by males AND no i am not gay. Just as there as so few great funny women comedians (Joan Rivers is over 80 and maybe the funniest woman in the world but on the list with men she would only make it to number "80"). Men have talents and women have other talents (they are great onlate night advertisements talking about extentz or that produce that helps me to grow - such a double standard - maybe
Watch yourself now. I am female. Besides, the comments for this excellent song and artist are not a dumping ground for your frustrations with the opposite sex.
The dumping grounds are everywhere as women are biologically hardwired to dump on men. They need education, looks , chemistry, status, humor, money .. way in excess of what the typical man needs. Every (usually suppressed) scientific study bears this out. The other suppressed studies include that Atheists are as moral and less criminal in general than believers (way underrepresented in US prisons). 95% of living Nobel prize winners in sciences signed that they don't believe in god, period.
I really don't want this to turn into the battle of the sexes. I'm simply not interested. Let's keep the comments about this gem from Paul Westerberg or something else music related.
I was not responding to you, MediaGoddess82, but to a guy on the last page who wrote me and told me he related to something I had said about women. So if women, in general and on this site, want to go back to there imaginary worlds where the truth doesn't penetrate as much as it does with some guys .. like me. I will say whatever I want .. and you can say what you want. It's better then suppressing ideas and views as the world and this country does all the time.
The album is good. It takes a little time getting used to because it's one long track. Also each song transitions into the next with distorted music and song snippets.

Kicking myself I didn't get on board the 10-15 minutes this was available. I think I like his solo stuff more than Replacements now.

I just got it because it was a good deal. Would have been just as good at 4.99 Had no idea I was making a once in a lifetime purchase.

The whole thing is brilliant. Considering Paul is ADD, this makes sense. I find something new to love every time I listen. Keep going Paul.

This is my favorite song in this 1-track sorta CD. Absolutely beautiful. Reminds me of the days back when stereo-mono album was released.
