I think the word 'metaphorically' relates to this video very well since the stuff you mentioned earlier are actually just mataphors of the video. Apart from the fact that you couldn't interpret this video, this video could have been interpreted differently to other people. To me it isn't an old guy with a creative imagination. It's an elderly remembering about his past and how the things in the video represented his life.
